Job Purpose:

To drive the planning, development and implementation of WFP Lebanon's digital communications and content production, strengthening the organization's visibility, donor recognition and engagement with key audiences across digital and traditional media platforms. The role is responsible for managing WFP Lebanon's social media presence, identifying and developing compelling stories and communication opportunities in collaboration with Programme units and field offices, and proposing and implementing digital campaigns and initiatives that expand WFP's reach, enhance public engagement and showcase programme results and donor support. The incumbent produces high-quality strategic communications materials, including digital content, human-interest stories, media messaging, key messages, speeches, talking points, press materials and other public-facing products, while ensuring donor visibility requirements are effectively reflected across communication products and campaigns. The role also supports media relations through the coordination of interviews, media responses and communication opportunities, and contributes to the development of strategic messaging that is aligned with corporate communications standards while effectively communicating WFP's operational impact, advocacy priorities and the contributions of donors and partners.

Key Responsibilities (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive):

Within delegated authority and under the direct supervision of Communications Officer the Senior Communications Associate will be responsible for the following duties:

1. Coordinate and deliver specialised communications processes and activities, in order to support the timely preparation and execution of communications campaigns for target audiences.

2. Liaise with the media and other key constituents, providing and facilitating a regular flow of information and messages on WFP activities, policies and operations to key audiences.

3. Coordinate and make recommendations on event planning, ensuring appropriate services, equipment, plans and suitable materials are made available.

4. Provide substantive, specialised support, coordination and recommendations that ensure the efficient production of video/film, photographic and radio projects.

5. Monitor traditional and social media, and report relevant information to senior staff to inform the development and/or evaluation of communication activities and strategies.

6. Prepare content for use on traditional and social media platforms and networks to enhance coverage and support of WFP’s activities, ensuring consistency with corporate messages.

7. Research, recommend and assist with the development of content used on traditional and social media platforms and networks to enhance coverage and support of WFP’s activities, ensuring cost effectiveness and consistency with corporate messages.

8. Promote and provide advice on communications guidelines, to ensure that core procedures and policies are followed.

9. Ensure that relevant information is collected, and maintained in appropriate files and databases, by self or others, so that accurate records are available for others to access.

10. Manage a broad range of day-to-day questions and information requests from internal and external stakeholders, using specialised knowledge to respond to these in a timely, appropriate manner.

11. Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, in order to keep abreast of relevant information, and deliver aligned, coherent Communications processes and activities.

12. Contribute to the development of communications methods and processes in order to improve their effectiveness and increase awareness of WFP’s work to the media and stakeholders.

13. Perform other related duties as required.

STANDARD MINIMUM ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in Communication Arts, Media Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or any related field.

Experience: At least seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in communications, marketing, multimedia or digital production or related fields.

Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Arabic. Knowledge of French language is an added advantage.

Required Experiences for entry into the role:

  • Strong writing, editing and content development skills, with the ability to produce engaging communication materials in English and Arabic, including social media content, human-interest stories, beneficiary profiles, web content, press releases, key messages, talking points and speeches.
  • Experience managing media relations, including engaging with journalists, drafting media messaging, coordinating media responses and interviews, and ensuring consistent, high-quality external communications.
  • Experience managing social media platforms (X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and other relevant channels), including content planning, scheduling, publishing, campaign implementation, donor visibility and audience engagement.
  • Experience gathering field content through interviews, photos, videos and stories for communication and visibility purposes.
  • Strong understanding of social media analytics and performance monitoring, with the ability to prepare engagement reports and use audience insights to inform communication strategies.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain editorial/content calendars and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Desired Skills and Knowledge

  • Experience supporting donor visibility, branding and communication requirements.
  • Knowledge of photography, videography and multimedia storytelling techniques.
  • Experience supporting communication activities during emergencies, field missions or humanitarian operations.
  • Experience developing bilingual communication products in Arabic and English.
  • Experience in digital asset management, content archiving and knowledge management practices.
  • Familiarity with graphic design and video editing software for basic content adaptation and formatting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships, manage sensitive communications and work effectively in multicultural and multidisciplinary environments.
  • Experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders, including programme teams, field offices, cooperating partners, media representatives, donors and external service providers.
  • Proficiency in digital content creation and editing tools such as Canva, Wochit or similar platforms for the rapid production and adaptation of visual and multimedia content.
  • Experience developing high-level and strategic messaging for senior leadership ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and corporate communications standards.
