Mission and objectives

UNDP is the knowledge frontier organization for sustainable development in the UN Development System and serves as the integrator for collective action to realize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). UNDP’s policy work carried out at HQ, Regional and Country Office levels, forms a contiguous spectrum of deep local knowledge to cutting-edge global perspectives and advocacy.

The Governance, Rule of Law, and Peacebuilding Hub, a joint endeavor of the Crisis Bureau (CB) and the Bureau for Policy and Programme Support (BPPS), integrates work across governance, rule of law and peacebuilding (GRP) to substantially improve UNDP positioning and resource mobilization, undertake global advocacy; advance principled and effective solutions that support accountable, inclusive and effective governance, prevent and respond to crisis, and enable peacebuilding and early recovery from crisis, whilst addressing underlying risks.

To strengthen the visibility, consistency, and impact of its communications, the GRP Hub seeks support from an Online Volunteer with experience in communications, social media management, and graphic design.

Assignment context

The Governance, Rule of Law and Peacebuilding (GRP) Hub is seeking an Online Volunteer to strengthen its communications, visibility, and digital engagement efforts. The volunteer will help translate complex governance, peacebuilding, and development topics into accessible and visually engaging content for LinkedIn and other communications channels. Key responsibilities include designing graphics, drafting social media content, developing templates, and supporting content planning. The assignment contributes to increasing the visibility of UNDP's work, knowledge products, and impact in the governance, rule of law and peacebuilding sector. It offers an opportunity to gain experience working with a global UNDP team on strategic communications and knowledge sharing.

Task description

Under the supervision of the hiring manager, the Online Volunteer will support the GRP Hub with the following task:

• The Online Volunteer on Support with Social Media Marketing will support us execute our content strategy with the goal of maximizing our reach and growth of our followers. The volunteer will help us use emerging platforms to reach new supporters and donors and identify partnerships, collaborations and opportunities to reach new audiences. We expect each online volunteer to create and publish four posts per week for our LinkedIn account.

The online volunteer is expected to:

- ensure day-to-day management of the LinkedIn Account by creating, writing and publishing at least four posts per week (including social media cards, banners, infographics, and carousel posts using Canva);

- Generate, edit, publish and share engaging content once a week (e.g. original text, photos, videos and news)

- Collaborate with other teams working on other social media accounts to ensure brand consistency,

Skills and experience

Demonstrated experience in communications, public information, digital marketing, journalism, graphic design, or a related field.

Strong proficiency in Canva and visual content creation.

Experience managing or supporting organizational social media channels, particularly LinkedIn.

Ability to design engaging social media graphics, infographics, and carousel posts.

Experience supporting communications strategy development and content planning.

Excellent drafting, editing, and storytelling skills.

Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Familiarity with international development, governance, peacebuilding, or UN-related topics is desirable.
