Organizational Setting
Guided by the Country Program Framework 2023 -2027, FAO’s country programme in Egypt is aligned with country priorities as expressed in national strategies such as; Vision 2030, 2030 Updated Sustainable Agricultural Development Strategy and Action Plan (SADS-2030), National Water Resources Plan, 2017-2037, Egypt National Climate Change Strategy-2050 and First Updated Nationally Determined Contributions (2022), National Food and Nutrition Strategy (2022-2030), Egypt National Action Plan for Antimicrobial Resistance (2018-2022), Programmer (2022), National Strategy for the Empowerment of Egyptian Women, 2030, Haya Karima Initiative (Decent Life – Sustainable Rural Communities) 2019-2030, Nexus of Water, Food and Energy (NWFE) Program, and residential Initiative “Bedaya – A New Beginning for Human Building”.
Through the support of various international donors, FAO Egypt is implementing a growing portfolio of projects covering but not limited to; land and water enhancement, agriculture production, animal health, climate change adaptation, agrifood value chain development, food security and nutrition and support to vulnerable rural and smallholder farmers. Further, an expected pipeline of projects covering climate change adaptation, natural resources management, biodiversity restoration and risk reduction is expected. FAO Egypt also sits in various coordination mechanisms in the country, in a strategic capacity, as a technical lead for food systems and agriculture.
To deliver its program, FAO Egypt is working with several line ministries such as Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Health and Population, Ministry of Social Solidarity, Ministry of Water Irrigation, and Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Reporting Lines
The Field Technical Implementation Specialist will work under the direct supervision of the FAO Representative, with technical guidance from the Project Manager and the relevant technical specialists within the Project Implementation Unit (PIU).
Technical Focus
The Field Technical Implementation Specialist will be responsible for providing technical support for the implementation of field activities related to project(s).
Tasks and responsibilities
• Provide day-to-day technical support for the implementation of project activities at village and farm levels.
• Support the establishment and monitoring of pilot model barns, ensuring compliance with the approved technical specifications and project standards.
• Provide technical assistance during the installation, commissioning, and follow-up of biogas units in small and medium-scale livestock farms.
• Support the delivery of farmer training programmes on livestock husbandry, animal health, biosecurity, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), climate-smart livestock practices, and environmental management.
• Conduct regular field visits to monitor the technical quality of project interventions and provide recommendations for improvement.
• Assist beneficiaries in adopting recommended livestock management practices and technologies promoted by the project.
• Verify beneficiary eligibility and participate in beneficiary selection and registration activities as required.
• Monitor the performance and functionality of project-supported interventions and report technical issues requiring corrective actions.
• Provide technical guidance to local veterinary and agricultural extension staff to ensure harmonized implementation of project activities.
• Collect technical field data and contribute to project monitoring, reporting, and evaluation activities.
• Support baseline surveys, technical assessments, beneficiary needs assessments, and follow-up evaluations.
• Assist in supervising the work of service providers and contractors to ensure compliance with technical specifications and agreed implementation schedules.
• Maintain accurate records of field activities, beneficiary participation, technical observations, and progress achieved.
• Prepare technical field reports and submit recommendations to the Field Coordinator.
• Document technical success stories, lessons learned, innovative practices, and implementation challenges.
• Participate in field missions, technical meetings, workshops, and project events as required.
• Perform any other related duties.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
• University degree in Agriculture or related field;
• At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in the implementation of project activities;
• Working knowledge (level C) of Arabic and limited knowledge (level B) of English;
• National of Egypt.

• University degree in Animal Production is desirable and will be considered an asset;
