Mission and objectives

Mission

The Chongqing Renewable Energy Society (CQRES) is dedicated to advancing the research, development, and deployment of renewable and clean energy technologies in southwest China. CQRES serves as a bridge between government, industry, research institutions, and local communities, promoting sustainable energy practices and contributing to China's national energy transition goals.

Objectives

1. Advance clean energy — Promote research and deployment of renewable energy, energy efficiency, and low-carbon technologies through conferences, seminars, and technology exchange programmes.

2. Provide technical services — Deliver energy audits, enterprise advisory services, and decision-support for parks, energy-consuming enterprises, and government bodies.

3. Host international platforms — Organize cross-border forums including the China (Chongqing) ASEAN Clean Forum and the Chongqing International Volunteer Festival, facilitating global exchange on climate action and sustainable energy.

4. Build international partnerships — Maintain cooperation with ESCAP, ADB, WWF, and other international organizations, as well as foreign research institutions and NGOs in climate and energy fields.

5. Serve a growing network — Connect and support 336 members including energy producers, major energy users, research institutes, energy-saving service providers, and government departments across the clean energy ecosystem.@

Assignment context

The 2026 Mountain Green Sustainable Development International Cooperation Forum brought together experts, young professionals, international students, and partner organizations to discuss green development, renewable energy cooperation, international technology transfer, and youth participation in sustainable development.
Within the framework of Forum Sub-forum II on international technology transfer and international volunteer service, the Youth Scientists Salon (Singularity Meeting) was held in Chongqing on 12 July 2026. The Salon served as a small roundtable and open exchange platform for Chinese energy-sector youth, international young scholars, doctoral students, and youth representatives from Central Asia, South Asia, ASEAN and other regions.
The activity focused on practical questions related to green technology needs in mountain regions, the localization of renewable energy technologies, the connection between international volunteer service and technology transfer, and youth-led cooperation mechanisms. It supported cross-cultural dialogue, knowledge sharing, and youth engagement for the Sustainable Development Goals.
Following the conclusion of the Salon, communication materials and records need to be consolidated and developed into accessible bilingual outputs. This assignment is therefore focused on post-event translation, content development, digital storytelling, documentation, and knowledge sharing based on materials and information provided by the organizers. The host entity will provide the relevant photos, concept note, meeting materials and other background information.

Task description

We are seeking 2 dedicated Online Volunteers to support bilingual translation, communication content, and digital storytelling following the Youth Scientists Salon (Singularity Meeting) held under the 2026 Mountain Green Sustainable Development International Cooperation Forum.
The volunteers will help transform activity materials, speaker information, discussion highlights, photos, feedback, and youth perspectives into concise bilingual communication outputs that can support awareness raising, post-event reporting, and knowledge sharing.

The two volunteers will work together to support the organization of bilingual materials and post-event communication outputs for the Youth Scientists Salon based on the materials provided by the host entity.
Tasks include:
• Translate, proofread and polish short Chinese-English materials related to the activity, including meeting notes, participant profiles, discussion highlights, photo captions, and follow-up messages.
• Organize and synthesize photos, concept note, meeting documents, discussion highlights, feedback information and other background materials provided by the HE.
• Draft short speaker or participant introductions and post-event summaries based on information provided by the organizers.
• Prepare 1 bilingual communication/publicity material based on the event materials, such as an activity highlight, short news item or digital storytelling product.
• Prepare 3 translated meeting documents, including the Youth Declaration.
• Suggest youth-friendly storytelling angles related to renewable energy, climate action, green technology transfer, international volunteer service, and the SDGs.
• Review activity materials and identify key messages, participant perspectives, and discussion outcomes suitable for bilingual communication.
• Ensure consistency in terminology, names, institutional references, and key messages across the bilingual communication outputs.
• Prepare 1 concise meeting outcome summary covering participant engagement, main discussion outcomes, feedback points, outstanding follow-up items and suggestions for future activities.

Skills and experience

Candidates should have previous experience or interest in translation, writing, editing, communication outreach, social media content creation, storytelling, or awareness-raising activities.
Required skills include:

• Chinese-English translation and proofreading.
• Writing and editing communication materials.
• Social media content creation and public outreach.
• Digital storytelling and photo caption writing.
• Organization of activity notes, participant profiles, and communication materials.
• Environmental studies, sustainable development, renewable energy, or climate action.
• International education and youth engagement.
Experience in writing news items, translating event materials, preparing social media posts, editing bilingual content, or supporting communication for academic and international activities is considered an advantage.
