Mission and objectives

Enabling Rural Opportunity Network (ERONet), formerly Agoro Community Development Association (ACDA), is a community-based nonprofit organization established in 2001 in Lamwo District, Northern Uganda. ERONet works to improve the lives of vulnerable communities through girls' education, women and girls' protection, climate-resilient livelihoods, community resilience, and institutional capacity strengthening.

Assignment context

ERONet is implementing community development programmes in Northern Uganda with a strategic focus on girls' education, women's protection, climate resilience, sustainable livelihoods, and community empowerment.

To expand its impact, the organization is actively pursuing grant funding from international foundations, development agencies, and philanthropic organizations. While ERONet has identified relevant funding opportunities, preparing high-quality technical proposals remains a significant capacity need.

The volunteers' contribution will directly strengthen ERONet's resource mobilization efforts by producing competitive proposals that can attract funding for programmes benefiting vulnerable communities. Their work will help position ERONet for long-term growth while contributing to Sustainable Development Goals related to quality education, gender equality, poverty reduction, clean water, climate action, and strong institutions.

Task description

ERONet is seeking four Online Volunteers with strong proposal development experience to support the preparation of competitive grant proposals.

The volunteers will not be responsible for identifying funding opportunities. ERONet has already developed a grant directory and will provide selected funding opportunities, donor guidelines.

Working closely with the Executive Director and ERONet team, the volunteers will:

Review donor guidelines and application requirements.
Translate project concepts into clear, persuasive, and donor-focused technical proposals.
Develop logical frameworks, problem statements, objectives, expected results, implementation approaches, sustainability plans, and monitoring and evaluation sections where required.
Ensure proposals align with donor priorities and comply with submission requirements.
Revise proposals based on feedback from the ERONet team before finalization.
Participate in periodic virtual meetings and maintain regular communication through email or other agreed online platforms.

Each volunteer may contribute to one or more proposals depending on experience, availability, and application deadlines

Skills and experience

We are looking for volunteers who possess one or more of the following:

Demonstrated experience in grant proposal writing for NGOs, international organizations, or development agencies.
Excellent technical writing and editing skills.
Familiarity with logical frameworks, theories of change, results-based management, and monitoring and evaluation.
Understanding of donor requirements from bilateral, multilateral, philanthropic, or private foundations.
Ability to synthesize technical information into compelling, evidence-based proposals.
Strong research, analytical, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a remote team.
Previous experience supporting nonprofit organizations is highly desirable.
