Mission and objectives
The United Nations Information Centre in Cairo (UNIC Cairo) is a field office of the United Nations Department for Global Communications that serves the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is part of the global network of United Nations Information Centres (UNICs).
UNIC Cairo is the principal source of information about the United Nations system in Egypt and Saudi Arabia. The Centre is responsible for promoting public understanding and support for the aims and activities of the United Nations by communicating about its work and disseminating UN information materials to national and regional stakeholders and audiences, engaging local and regional partners and overall bringing the United Nations closer to the people it serves.
In Egypt, UNIC Cairo has been integrated with the Resident Coordinator Office (RCO) since the operationalization of the United Nations development system reform on 1 January 2019. UNIC Cairo works closely with the UN Country Teams and UN Communication Groups in the countries it serves.
Assignment context
The assignment will support UNIC in the planning and implementation of the UN Day campaign, contributing to outreach and public engagement activities. The volunteers will assist in the UN day event and coordinating initiatives to promote the values and impact of the United Nations.

Task description
Online Volunteers will support the UN Day with the following tasks:
1- Support the online registration and accreditation process by organizing participant, guest and speaker information, checking submitted registration details and preparing digital registration lists for campaign activities and the Awards Ceremony.
2- Support the preparation of digital event information and coordination materials, including participant information, schedules, digital signage/content and other materials required to facilitate campaign activities.
3- Support online participant guidance and engagement by preparing and sharing event information, instructions, schedules and relevant updates through designated digital channels.
4- Support the organizing team with remote coordination and information management by organizing relevant information received from speakers, jury members, guests and other stakeholders and preparing coordination lists and follow-up materials as required.
5- Support the coordination and monitoring of campaign activities by maintaining activity trackers, organizing updates and documenting key actions and follow-up items before, during and after the campaign activities.
6- Support the distribution of campaign materials and the collection, organization and compilation of participant feedback received through online channels, contributing to one consolidated feedback summary after the campaign.
Skills and experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a diverse team.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced event environment.
- Previous experience supporting events is desirable but not required.
- Fluency in Egyptian dialect and a good command of English.
