Full job description
Host entity: UNDP
Application deadline: 23/08/2026
Mission and objectives
Established in 1965, UNDP is the United Nations’ global development network, operating in nearly 170 countries and territories. Its mission is to eradicate poverty, reduce inequalities, and build resilience to crises and shocks. The Istanbul Regional Hub (IRH) is UNDP’s primary knowledge and advisory center for the Europe and Central Asia region.
Assignment context
BIOFIN is a UNDP global programme that supports countries in developing and implementing finance solutions for biodiversity. It works with governments and partners worldwide to strengthen investment in nature and address the financing needed to achieve national and global biodiversity goals.
Ahead of COP17, BIOFIN teams worldwide will participate in a global communications campaign showcasing practical solutions, country experiences and the importance of biodiversity finance. Video will be a central part of the campaign, helping translate technical subjects into accessible and engaging stories for policymakers, partners, practitioners and wider public audiences.
The volunteers’ contribution will help BIOFIN:
Increase the reach and visibility of country-level biodiversity finance results.
Present technical information in clear and accessible formats.
produce content for audiences in English, Spanish and French.
Equip BIOFIN teams worldwide with adaptable campaign materials.
Build public and institutional understanding of why financing biodiversity matters.
Amplify country voices and practical experiences ahead of COP17.
The volunteers will receive background information on BIOFIN, the campaign narrative, target audiences, terminology, branding and relevant UNDP communications standards. They will not be expected to develop policy positions or technical biodiversity finance content independently.
Task description
The three Online Volunteers will support UNDP’s Biodiversity Finance Initiative (BIOFIN) in editing and producing video content for a global communications campaign ahead of the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17).
