Mission and objectives
The FAO Representation to the Arab Republic of Egypt opened in 1978. Over the past years, the Organization has participated in a large range of agricultural and rural development activities targeting Egypt’s specific needs. FAO’s support includes strategy, policy and institutional development, promotion of good agricultural practices and South-South Cooperation. The Organization has also taken the lead in supporting investments agriculture.
Assignment context
FAO is looking for online volunteers in Egypt to support a social media campaign that raises awareness about One Health and the connections between human health, animal health, plant health and the environment.
The campaign will bring together 1,000 online volunteers who will help share FAO-approved information with their own online communities.
If you are active on social media and would like to use some of your time to support a meaningful cause, this opportunity is for you.
You do not need to be a health, agriculture or environmental expert. FAO will provide the content, key messages and guidance. Your role is to help make sure these messages reach more people.
By joining the campaign, you will have the opportunity to:
- Contribute to an FAO awareness campaign reaching communities across Egypt.
- Learn more about One Health and its relevance to everyday life.
- Use your social media skills for a cause that affects people, animals, food systems and the environment.
- Be part of a large group of volunteers contributing to the same campaign.
- Receive a UNV Certificate of Appreciation upon successful completion of your assignment.
Task description
As an online volunteer, you will:
- Share FAO-approved posts, messages and visuals through your social media accounts and networks.
- Help raise awareness about One Health and antimicrobial resistance.
- Share simple and reliable information about the links between people, animals, food, agriculture and the environment.
- Use the campaign's approved hashtags, links and messages when sharing content.
- Encourage your online community to learn more about One Health and take positive actions.
You will receive the campaign materials and instructions from FAO, so you will not be expected to develop scientific content yourself.
Skills and experience
Regularly use social media such as Facebook, Instagram, X or other digital platforms.
Enjoy sharing useful information with friends, followers or online communities.
Can follow simple instructions and use the provided content accurately.
Have an interest in health, food, agriculture, animals, the environment or sustainability.
Previous volunteering experience is welcome but not required.
You do not need a professional background in health or agriculture.
