Mission and objectives
The Mine Action Section of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) helps to advance the mission mandate as outlined in the Security Council Resolution 2702 (2023). The Section provides advice and technical support to the Libyan institutions and counterpart to take steps to (i) secure and effectively manage stockpiles to prevent proliferation and unplanned explosions, (ii) clear explosive ordnance disposal and remnant of war from hazardous areas to protect local communities, including Internally Displaced People, and (iii) contribute to humanitarian, stabilization, reconciliation, and the Sustainable Development Goals in order to advance safe and secured Libyan reconstruction
Assignment context
The UN Volunteer assignment of Reporting Support Officer will provide drafting, analytical, and communications support to the Mine Action Section. The position will contribute to the preparation of internal and external reports, including inputs to the Secretary-General’s reports, donor updates, performance reporting, and communications material. The UN Volunteer will support the consolidation of information from implementing partners and national counterparts. He/ She will assist in compiling briefings, background documents, and talking points in support of strategic engagement with national and international stakeholders. The incumbent will also assist in developing visual content such as charts, presentations, and infographics and may contribute to public information materials, including human-interest stories and digital outreach, in coordination with the mission’s communication teams. The UN Volunteer will support the documentation and organization of meetings, workshops, and capacity-building events.
Task description
Under the supervision of the Chief of Mine Action, the Reporting Support Officer will contribute to the effective reporting, coordination, and communication of mine action activities. The UN Volunteer will support the team in the following areas:
• Assist in compiling and organizing information for internal and external reporting, including contributions to the Secretary-General’s reports, donor updates, and performance reports.
• Support analysis of data from IMSMA and other sources to inform reporting, plan-ning, and review processes.
• Help draft background materials, talking points, meeting notes, and inputs to strategic and programmatic documents.
• Contribute to the visualization and presentation of data through charts, tables, and in-fographics for internal use and external visibility.
• Provide support for meetings, workshops, and coordination events, including the preparation of agendas and background documents.
• Assist in gathering and organizing content for communications materials, including success stories and updates for outreach and visibility.
• Support coordination and information flow between the Mine Action Section and its partners and different stakeholders.
• Perform other related tasks as needed to support the Section’s reporting and coordination functions.
Skills and experience
Demonstrated interest and/or experience (ideally one year) in:
•Data analysis, reporting, and monitoring of peace, humanitarian, or development pro-grammes.
• Drafting of policy briefs, reports, or communications materials within a UN, NGO, or academic context.
• Supporting coordination or outreach activities in multi-stakeholder or international set-tings.
• Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture (i.e., stud-ies, volunteer work, internship).

Skills in:
