Salary calculator questions

Which UN staff categories are covered?

The calculator covers locally recruited General Service grades and National Officer grades, including NO-A through NO-E where published for the selected duty station.

Is this the exact amount I will receive?

No. It is an estimate based on the official salary scale. The optional insurance calculation uses UNDP reference rates; danger pay, overtime, taxes that may apply to you, and other agency-specific additions or deductions are not included.

How is the pension deduction estimated?

For appointments eligible for UNJSPF participation, the calculator applies the current 7.9% participant contribution to the pensionable remuneration shown in the official local salary scale, including an eligible language allowance.

How are insurance deductions estimated?

Insurance is optional in the calculator. Life insurance and Medical Insurance Plan (MIP) deductions use the public UNDP local-salary estimator reference rates effective July 2026. Dental cover is included in MIP. Other organisations may offer different plans and rates.
