Full job description

Host entity: UNV

Application deadline: 21/10/2026

Mission and objectives

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) Programme in Zimbabwe operates under the broader framework of the United Nations system in Zimbabwe, which has been active since 1980 at the invitation of the Government of Zimbabwe. UNV supports national development priorities and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by promoting volunteerism as a powerful means of engaging people in development and peacebuilding efforts. UNV Zimbabwe works closely with UN agencies, government ministries, civil society, and development partners to strengthen capacities, foster inclusive participation, and mobilize volunteers for transformative initiatives.

UNV Zimbabwe’s mission is to promote volunteerism for peace and development, enabling people to contribute their time, skills, and experience to advance sustainable development, social cohesion, and resilience. The program seeks to integrate volunteerism into development planning and implementation, ensuring that volunteers are catalysts for positive change in communities.

Assignment context

The United Nations in Zimbabwe, through its Disability Inclusion initiatives, is working to promote awareness, dialogue, and engagement on the meaningful inclusion of persons with disabilities in development, humanitarian, and peacebuilding efforts. As part of these efforts, a Disability Inclusion Event will be held on 12 October 2026, bringing together government representatives, United Nations agencies, organizations of persons with disabilities, civil society organizations, youth representatives, and development partners.

To maximize the reach and impact of the event, there is a need for dedicated online communications support before, during, and after the event. The communications campaign aims to increase public awareness of disability inclusion, amplify the voices of persons with disabilities, encourage participation in discussions, and sustain engagement beyond the event itself.
Online Volunteers will support the development and dissemination of digital content and help foster meaningful online conversations across social media platforms.

Task description

We are looking for 4 Online Volunteers with experience in communications, social media management, digital engagement, or content creation.
