Assignment context
This National UN Volunteer assignment is part of UN Women Pakistan's Country Office communications and advocacy function. The Communications Assistant will be part of the Communications Unit, working under the direct supervision of the Communications Officer, and will support the Country Office's efforts to increase the visibility of, and partner and public awareness around, UN Women's programming on gender equality and women's empowerment in Pakistan, including work on normative frameworks and data, inclusive gender financing, protection against harmful practices, and awareness, voice, agency and leadership. Task description
Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Communications Officer, the UN Volunteer will:
• Provide administrative and logistical support to the development and roll-out of the Country Office's communications and advocacy strategy, including organizing roundtables, press conferences and other public events, and preparing briefing materials and press releases;
• Support the development of advocacy materials by gathering storylines and achievements from across the Country Office, drafting press releases, articles and key messages, coordinating translations and liaising with printers and other suppliers, and maintaining a library/database of reference materials and photos;
• Support management of the Country Office's social media presence and website by gathering and developing content, taking photos and short videos/reels, updating the website and social media channels, and maintaining related files and databases;
• Provide media relations support to the Head of Office by maintaining and updating a media contact database, responding to requests for information as delegated, and compiling inputs for talking points;
• Contribute to knowledge management and sharing by helping identify best practices and lessons learned, supporting trainings and workshops on communication practices, and exchanging information with the Regional Office and other Country Offices;
• Support special web, digital and media projects undertaken by the Country Office;
• Perform other duties within their functional profile as required for the efficient functioning of the Office.
Skills and experience
Progressively responsible experience providing support to the formulation and implementation of internal and external communications and advocacy strategies and related plans; experience in the use of social media and digital communication; and experience using computers and office software (MS Word, Excel, etc.), spreadsheet and database packages, and web-based management systems.
Asset: Experience in the use of a modern web-based ERP system, preferably Oracle Cloud; ability to create, edit and present information in clear, presentable formats using appropriate IT functionality; good event-planning and multimedia skills; and the ability to identify relevant events and stories and communicate them to a mass audience.
Asset: Prior UN experience or prior knowledge of UN Women's internal systems.

Living conditions
As this is a national UNV assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials.
UNV Field Unit will help you open a Pak rupee bank account with Standard Chartered Bank or any other local bank at your duty station.
Assignment remarks:
This is a national UNV assignment, and a Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of PKR 106,569 is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities and normal cost of living expenses. Life health and permanent disability insurance are included (health insurance for up to 3 dependents), as well as final repatriation (if applicable) and resettlement allowance for satisfactory service.
