Mission and objectives
UN Women exists to advance women’s rights, gender equality, and the empowerment of all women and girls.
As the lead United Nations entity on gender equality, we shift laws, institutions, social norms, and services to close the gender gap and build an equal world for all women and girls.
We keep the rights of women and girls at the centre of global progress—always, everywhere. Because gender equality is not just what we do. It is who we are.
The Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) are a global initiative managed by UN Women, offering guidance to business on how to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment in the workplace, marketplace and community.
WEPs are a primary vehicle for corporate delivery on gender equality dimensions of the 2030 agenda and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Assignment context
The 2026 Global WEPs Survey is an annual global data collection designed to measure how WEPs signatories are advancing gender equality across the seven WEPs Principles. The Survey creates a common global evidence base for WEPs and UN Women reporting, programme design and private-sector engagement, while providing companies with aggregated insights by dimensions such as region, sector and company size.
In parallel, the WEPs Secretariat maintains signatory-level data on companies participating in the WEPs community.
Together with other WEPs data sources, this creates an opportunity to move from static reporting towards more accessible, interactive and regularly updated data products. The Secretariat is therefore seeking two Online Volunteers to support the development of data dashboards and compelling data stories.
Task description
In order to improve the data collection, analysis and communication process within the WEPs Global Secretariat, the Secretariat is seeking three Online Volunteers to support the development of data dashboards and compelling data stories.
The volunteers will work under the guidance of the Coordinator for the Global WEPs Secretariat. The Online Volunteers will be responsible for:

Volunteer 2: Global WEPs Survey Dashboard

- Design an accessible, interactive online dashboard with data stories
Volunteer 3: WEPs Data Dashboard
- Build an automated pipeline connecting incoming signatory data to dynamic dashboards and visualizations
- Design an accessible and engaging dashboard presenting the global WEPs community and its growth, reach and composition;
The Online Volunteer(s) will be provided with datasets to conduct the analysis and are required to update on the progress during regular calls.
The Online Volunteer/s will have the opportunity to build connections with the UN Women Women's Empowerment Principles team and learn about the ways in which data can support gender equality through and with the private sector.
