UNICEF Guinea-Bissau is looking for an Online Volunteer to support the analysis of data on violence against children and the design of a dissemination brochure. The assignment will help transform data into accessible evidence for advocacy, communication, and decision-making.

Assignment context

Violence against children remains a major challenge, with significant consequences for children’s well-being, development, and future opportunities. To strengthen evidence-based advocacy and programming, UNICEF Guinea-Bissau is seeking support to analyze existing data on violence against children and transform the findings into accessible communication products.

The assignment aims to generate clear and actionable evidence on the prevalence, patterns, and determinants of violence against children, while presenting key findings in a visually engaging brochure/factsheet for policymakers, partners, communities, and other stakeholders. The results will contribute to raising awareness, informing decision-making, and supporting efforts to prevent and respond to violence against children.

Through this assignment, the Online Volunteer will support UNICEF in translating data into knowledge products that can be used for advocacy, communication, and programming, thereby contributing to the promotion and protection of children’s rights.

Task description

We are looking for one Online Volunteer to support UNICEF Guinea-Bissau in the analysis of data on violence against children and the development of a user-friendly dissemination brochure presenting key findings.

Under the guidance of the Education and Child Protection teams, the Online Volunteer will:

- Review and consolidate the datasets and indicators available for the analysis;
- Propose research questions and an analytical framework to guide the exercise;
- Develop a tabulation and analysis plan, including relevant indicators and disaggregation criteria;
- Conduct quantitative and/or qualitative analysis of the data to identify key trends, patterns, and findings related to violence against children;
- Prepare data visualizations, charts, and infographics to facilitate understanding of the findings;
- Draft a concise analytical report summarizing the methodology, findings, and key messages;
- Design a visually appealing brochure/factsheet to communicate the results to policymakers, partners, and the general public.

The Online Volunteer will be provided with the relevant datasets and background materials and will participate in periodic virtual meetings to discuss progress and receive feedback.

Through this assignment, the Online Volunteer will contribute to strengthening evidence-based advocacy and programming on violence against children and gain experience working with UNICEF on data analysis, knowledge generation, and communication of evidence for child rights.

Deliverables
1. Data analysis plan and tabulation framework.
2. Analytical report presenting key findings on violence against children.
3. Designed brochure/factsheet (editable and printable format) summarizing the main findings and recommendations.

Skills and experience

Candidates should have advanced computer skills and proficiency in analytical software (e.g., SPSS, SATA etc.). Strong analytical and writing skills as well as ability to provide and present data in a concise manner is required.
A degree in data analytics, mathematics, statistics, or other related fields is considered an asset.
