Full job description

Host entity: UNWomen

Application deadline: 21/10/2026

Mission and objectives

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
To strengthen the accessibility and use of data and evidence, UN Women develops a wide range of knowledge products, including regional SDG Gender Snapshots, research studies, violence against women data products, policy briefs, fact sheets and advocacy materials. Effectively communicating findings from these products is essential to ensuring that gender data informs policies, programmes and public discourse.

Assignment context

UN Women ECARO seeks an Online UN Volunteer on Data Visualization and Storytelling to support the transformation of complex gender data, statistics and research findings into engaging, audience-friendly visual content. During the assignment period, the Volunteer will also support the visual development of UN Women's regional 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign. The campaign will be anchored around a data-driven "Justice Funnel" concept that visualizes the progression from the prevalence of violence against women to reporting, investigation, prosecution, conviction and other justice outcomes, helping communicate barriers women face in accessing justice across Europe and Central Asia.

The Volunteer will work under the guidance of the Regional Gender Statistics Specialist and Communications Analyst, and in collaboration with the Online UNV on Data Analysis, to help increase the visibility, accessibility and impact of gender data and evidence across Europe and Central Asia.
