Unit Context The ITS Country Engagement unit (ITSCE) delivers digital support for global and country-specific products, supports systems aligned with the new Country Engagement model, and provides geospatial solutions for geo-tagging of projects to improve spatial visibility and impact tracking. It also drives the delivery of AI-powered business solutions to support business priorities and accelerate data-driven decision-making across the institution. The Associate Data and AI Engineer plays a critical role in the delivery of geospatial solutions and capabilities, supporting high-impact technology initiatives that serve a broad World Bank Group operational user base. To support this effort, ITSCE seeks an experienced data professional to join the Geospatial Solutions team. The position is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines that ingest, transform, validate, and publish geospatial and non-geospatial data from a wide range of internal and external sources. The role requires strong expertise in data engineering, geospatial data management, ETL/ELT frameworks, data quality assurance, and data integration practices to ensure trusted, discoverable, and reusable datasets across the platform ecosystem. Within ITSCE, the Data Engineer will support the delivery of the unit’s work program by building and optimizing data infrastructure that powers geospatial products, analytics, and operational decision-making. Working with limited supervision, the incumbent will develop and maintain automated data pipelines, streamline data acquisition processes, implement data validation and quality controls, and improve the reliability, performance, and scalability of geospatial data services.
