Mission and objectives

The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs helps coordinated humanitarian action around the world and it supports humanitarian organizations to respond in a principled and effective way to the needs of people caught in crises, to understand and analyze their needs, to mobilize international assistance, and to execute and monitor humanitarian responses. The Financial Tracking Service (FTS) is a key service of OCHA that tracks humanitarian financing across the globe. FTS informs humanitarian decision making and advocacy across the world and relies on the reporting of humanitarian partners- contributors and recipients.

Assignment context

The assignment is to develop an FTS training video. More specifically, the volunteer will edit screen-recorded FTS training session(s) -in different languages- providing background on FTS and showing how to report on it. The aim is to produce a clear, concise, and professional walkthrough video that can be shared with humanitarian partners globally for training reference purposes.

The Online Volunteer will:
• Edit the video to improve flow, clarity, and viewer engagement.
• Review the raw screen-recorded training sessions
• Explore multi-language options for the final product
• Remove unnecessary pauses, interruptions, background noise, or off-topic discussions.
• Enhance audio quality where feasible.
• Add introductory and closing slides using branding elements provided by OCHA.
• Insert titles, captions, callouts, or highlights to emphasize key steps and features of the FTS platform.
• Ensure smooth transitions between sections.
• Export the final videos in a format suitable for online sharing and dissemination.

Expected Deliverables:
• FTS training video(s)- in different languages
• Source project file (if applicable).
• Final video(s) exported in MP4 format and optimized for web viewing.

Task description

FTS, the United Nations’ global database for tracking humanitarian contributions to inform humanitarian advocacy and decision making, is seeking an International Online Volunteer with video editing experience to support the editing of a screen-recorded training video(s) on the FTS. This training video(s) will support humanitarian partners in understanding that humanitarian financial tracking is a shared responsibility across humanitarian actors, how to navigate and use the service and its platform effectively, thereby improving reporting timeliness, quality and transparency of humanitarian funding.

Skills and experience

• Experience with video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Camtasia, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, Adobe After Effects or equivalent.
• Ability to edit screen-recorded tutorials and training materials.
• Ability to deliver within agreed to timelines and expectations including milestones.
• Strong attention to detail and presentation quality.
• Experience creating educational or instructional videos is an asset. (Interested candidates are requested to provide samples of similar work or an online portfolio at the time of the application.)
• Familiarity with humanitarian information management tools and/or UN system is desirable but not required.
