1. Organizational Context

Organizational Setting

Fellowships aim to provide fellows with experience to strengthen their knowledge and professional competence, which they can apply in their professional field once they have completed their fellowship with WIPO. Fellowships are awarded for specific activities, which provide the fellows training, within the approved workplan of the employing office.

This fellowship position is in the News and Media Division (NMD) in the Office of the Director General. It is dedicated to covering the full spectrum of communications for CLIP, a product managed by WIPO for Creators, under the Copyright Management Division (CMD) of the Copyright, Creative Economy and IP Governance Sector.

CLIP (goclip.org // Creators Learn Intellectual Property) is a rights awareness digital platform that empowers creators with a better understanding of their rights and responsibilities as creators and how their creative industry works. Launched in November 2023 with a focus on the music industry, CLIP is expanding to visual arts in 2026, to publishing (writing) in 2027, and to other creative sectors in the years to come.

Purpose Statement

The Fellow will contribute for building CLIP's brand, reputation, and visibility as the trusted platform on creators' rights, through digital (primarily) and non-digital channels, with the ultimate goal of increasing quality traffic and community engagement with CLIP.

This requires aligning with WIPO’s institutional positioning while advancing CLIP’s distinct brand, strategy, messaging, and creator-centric voice.

This fellowship offers the opportunity to acquire specialized expertise at the intersection of intellectual property, communications, and the creative industries.

The Fellow will develop and apply skills in translating complex international IP and copyright concepts into accessible, compelling content for diverse, non-technical creator audiences. This requires progressively building sufficient understanding of intellectual property frameworks, how different creative sectors function, what rights creators have and how they can protect them in each of the relevant creative sectors, and how best to engage different creator communities, in order to design effective, sector-specific and regionally adapted communication strategies.

The fellowship also requires nuanced stakeholder awareness and sensitivity, which will be supported through guidance from the Fellow’s CLIP team members, NMD and CMD, as well as colleagues in other divisions.

Through mentorship and hands-on exposure, the Fellow will manage CLIP's social media presences and contribute to a range of digital and non-digital communications activities.

Reporting Lines

The Fellow will work in the News and Media Division under the supervision of the Senior Digital Communications Officer, while being fully dedicated to the WIPO for Creators and working in alignment with its business strategy and under the guidance of the Manager, WIPO for Creators.
