Org. Setting and Reporting
The United Nations Office to the African Union (UNOAU) was created in 2010 to strengthen the United Nations’ interaction with the African Union. UNOAU is mandated to contribute to enhancing the partnership between the United Nations and the African Union in the area of peace and security, provide coordinated and consistent United Nations advice to the African Union on both long-term capacity-building and short-term operational support, and streamline the United Nations presence in Addis Ababa to be more cost-effective and efficient in delivering United Nations assistance to the African Union. UNOAU plays a key role in the implementation of the Joint UN-AU Framework for Enhanced Partnership in Peace and Security, signed by the United Nations Secretary-General and Chairperson of the African Union Commission on 19 April 2017. This position is located at the Finance Unit at UNOAU in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Within delegated authority, the incumbent of the post reports to the Head of Unit.
Responsibilities
• Review all our open VAT items. • Follow-up with the Ministry of Revenue on our open VAT items • Priority reconciliation of VAT open items related to XB funds and analysis of all related transactions, reviewing all discrepancies and initiating write-off requests where applicable. • Priority reconciliation of VAT open items related to other funds included UNOAU, OSE_HOA and PESG Sudan and analysis of all related transactions, reviewing all discrepancies and initiating write-off requests where applicable • Review all UNOAU relevant VAT documentation related and identify discrepancies. • Complete review of all outstanding liabilities and receivables. • Where deemed necessary, prepare write-off requests and collect all necessary information and documentation to facilitate and accelerate the approval of the LPSB. • Timely assisting in processing vendor payments and separating the ones with VAT recoveries • Contact vendors immediately when invoices and supporting documents received are incomplete and cannot be processed. • Uploading documents to RSCE for payments related to salaries recoveries and other invoices. • Liaise with ECA & RSCE Treasury Unit for payment run and inform the respected unit for the payment process. • Assisting in cash functions • filing the invoices and uploading them to the workplace in UMOJA • Perform any other duties as assigned
