Mission and objectives
UNFPA is the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency. Our mission is to deliver a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person's potential is fulfilled.
Assignment context
UNFPA Eswatini Country Office supports the Government to advance sexual and reproductive health rights, adolescent and youth empowerment, gender equality, and population data. UNFPA’s work is aligned with the Government / UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) and UNFPA 8th Country Programme for 2026-2030 with the following priorities:
• Strengthening systems to deliver high-quality SRHR services and commodities for adolescents and youth
• Address multidimensional inequalities, particularly the underlying gender, socio-cultural and economic barriers especially in rural communities challenging harmful gender stereotypes and inequality.
• Address data gaps through investments in data analysis, particularly in subnational disaggregation, to inform programming for targeted interventions aimed at bridging inequality gaps and reaching
marginalized populations.
The national context is characterized by persistently high teenage pregnancy rates, high burden of GBV prevalence and limited access to youth friendly SRH services underscoring the need to scale up targeted interventions and mobilize sustained donor support.
