Duties and Responsibilities
The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean is one of the five regional Commissions of the United Nations. It was founded in 1948 with the purpose of contributing to the region's economic and social development. Its mission includes the design, monitoring and evaluation of public policies and the provision of advisory services, expertise and training to Governments, as well as support for regional and international cooperation and coordination activities. The internship in the Human Resources Section, Division of Administration, Santiago, will last 6 months, depending on the needs of the Office. Candidates may be selected throughout the posting period, on an "as-needed" basis. The intern will work under the supervision of the Chief of the Human Resources Section. Responsibilities: Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background and the needs of the Human Resources Section. Duties may include: • Assisting with the collection, compilation and organization of HR-related data. • Supporting the review and validation of HR data, including the identification of missing, inconsistent or inaccurate information. • Assisting with the maintenance and updating of databases containing HR statistics and indicators. • Supporting the preparation of datasets, tables, statistical summaries and other inputs for periodic HR reports and information products. • Assisting with basic analysis of HR data and the identification of relevant trends and patterns. • Supporting the preparation and updating of charts, dashboards and other data visualizations using Excel, Power BI and other applicable tools. • Assisting with the preparation of newsletters and other communication materials related to HR data and statistics. • Organizing and maintaining analytical files and supporting documentation to facilitate the use and traceability of HR data. • Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) (c) For this internship, studies in Administration, Human Resources, Data Analytics, Communication, or Advertising are desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English and Spanish is required for the internship.
