Duties and Responsibilities
==Org. Setting and Reporting== The Internship is in the Outreach Division of the Department of Global Communications, in the Advocacy and Social Impact Section, specifically with the team that manages the UN's Creative Community Outreach Initiative (CCOI) and Messenger of Peace (MOP) Programme. CCOI promotes partnerships and collaborations with the global entertainment industry, including film, television, documentaries, new media, sport and music; the MOP Programme coordinates the advocacy work of the UN Messengers of Peace on behalf of the Organization and coordinates policy on celebrity advocacy, including Goodwill Ambassadors, across the UN System globally. Two internship positions are available to start on 4 January 2027 and another two internship positions are available to start on 1 February 2027. The internship is for a period of six months. The internship is unpaid and full-time. Interns work five days a week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the office to which they are assigned. This internship is designed to be full-time and in-person in New York but can be adjusted based on the availability of the successful candidate. For more information about the Creative Community Outreach Initiative, please visit: https://www.un.org/en/ccoi For more information about the Messenger of Peace programme, please visit: https://www.un.org/en/mop ==Responsibilities== Under the supervision of the Advocacy and Outreach team, the interns will contribute to a project aimed at assessing and documenting outreach and engagement initiatives involving Messengers of Peace, Football for the Goals members, and other external stakeholders. The project will provide the intern with exposure to strategic communications, partnership engagement, digital outreach, and event planning within the United Nations. Activities may include: Supporting the research and compiling background information on advocacy partnerships involving sports, entertainment, and other influential stakeholders. Assisting in the development of analytical reports and presentations that assess engagement trends across digital and in-person outreach initiatives. Supporting the documentation of selected communications campaigns, special events, and partnership activities to identify lessons learned and best practices. Contributing to content development projects for UN advocacy and outreach platforms, including reviewing and organizing materials for publication. Assisting with the collection and analysis of engagement metrics related to outreach initiatives and preparing summaries of findings for internal review. Supporting a review of Football for the Goals partnership engagement activities and helping compile recommendations and materials that facilitate future stakeholder engagement.
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work. experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme. Do you meet any of the above criteria? If yes, please indicate which one and attach proof to the application. Applicants should have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams. Please detail if you have other skills such as graphic designs, photography or video editing. Ability to draft email, publications, or knowledge of social media posts creation as well as monitoring of social media posts is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.

Before resuming an internship, the applicant must submit proof of visa and/or work authorization. Applicants who have previously served six months, in total, as an intern in one or more UN Entities in the UN Secretariat cannot be engaged as an intern. Applicants who are children, siblings, and sons or daughters-in-law (including stepchildren, half-siblings, or stepsiblings) of an active staff member in a UN Secretariat cannot be engaged as an intern.
