Context

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM), and under the direct supervision of the Senior Communications Assistant, the incumbent will be based in Chisinau and will be responsible and accountable for providing support in producing high-quality communication and media products to support the visibility of the programmes implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Moldova. The role will also support the administrative and technical implementation of programmatic activities on media production and outreach activities, and for assisting in liaising with media outlets, and relevant stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  1. Assist the Media and Communication Unit (MCU) in the implementation of Public Information activities, in line with IOM communication guidelines and media approaches.
  2. Maintain IOM Moldova social media channels such as Instagram, Facebook, and other channels, including supporting social medial content activities and monitoring performance indicators.
  3. Drafting and update editorial content calendars in line with IOM Moldova communication priorities.
  4. Compile data on communication activities’ performance and drafting reports.
  5. Provide administrative coordination support for activities related to information campaigns.
  6. Prepare and disseminate public information materials (TV/Radio spots, public announcements, etc.).
  7. Support the production of printed and digital materials (e.g. posters, reports, flyers, brochures) on IOM’s activities, according to IOM rules and instructions.
  8. Assist in translating, formatting and uploading communication content on IOM Moldova website for review and publication by MCU. 
  9. Support internal communication by sharing information within IOM Units in Moldova, as well as with other IOM offices and among IOM colleagues in the field.
  10. Support MCU and the thematic experts in organising public information activities to promote the visibility of projects and initiatives at the national, regional and global levels.
  11. Support the preparation and posting of social media content, including videos, reels, carousels, and graphics, in line with MCU guidance.
  12. Compiling background information and inputs to support the preparation of communication and advocacy materials.
  13. Support the preparation of communication materials, including compiling inputs for talking points, briefing notes, and routine responses to media queries.
  14. Perform such other relevant duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism, Public/Media Relations or a related field from an accredited institution with three years of professional experience; or,
  • High school diploma with five years of relevant professional experience.
     

EXPERIENCE

  • Previous work experience in the field of media/communications at national level;
  • Experience in standard web content management system and usage of social media;
  • Experience in professional photo shooting;
  • Experience in production and post-production of audiovisuals, especially podcasts, is a strong advantage;
  • Working experience in an international environment is an advantage; and,
  • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organisations, non-government or government institutions/organisation in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
     

SKILLS

  • Knowledge of relevant Moldovan institutions in the field of media and communications and migration is an asset;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Knowledge of multimedia techniques for production and post-production;
  • Knowledge of video podcast production;
  • Knowledge of the Moldovan media landscape;
  • Excellent writing and communication skills;
  • Organizational skills including experience in the management of media initiatives;
  • Knowledge of MS Office Application (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point), social media and Adobe Creative;
  • Ability to draft clear and concise reports; and,
  • Knowledge of IOM branding regulations is an advantage.

 

Languages

IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish.
 

REQUIRED
For this position, fluency in English and Romanian is required (oral and written).
 

DESIRABLE
Working knowledge of Russian is an advantage.
