Result of Service
The Individual Contractor will ensure that metal carpentry services are fully restored and continuously available, enabling UNGSC to maintain safe, compliant, and functional infrastructure, safety systems, and facilities throughout the contract period. The duties will be performed in person.

Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunication Technologies services and Training to all Secretariat Entities, Peacekeeping and Special Political Missions, Agencies, Funds and Programs of the UN system worldwide. The UNGSC seeks to hire one (1) Individual Contractor within the Warehouse and Distribution Unit, Delivery and Return Section, Supply Chain Service, located in Brindisi, Italy, to support the project of dismantling the data center in Bldg. 261. The Individual Contractor will work under the overall direction of Campus Support in Central Service. The individual contractor/metal carpenter will perform the following duties: Data center and Building 261 • Dismantle the old data center structure and assess the metal railing profile of the damaged entrance door in Building 261. • Support the dismantling of prefabricated units previously used as a farmer database inside Building 261.
Qualifications/special skills
High school diploma or equivalent is required. A minimum of three (3) years of practical experience in metal fabrication, assembly, and repair, including welding, cutting, and shaping steel and aluminum structures, as well as routine maintenance of metal fixtures, machinery, aluminum windows, flashings, and rain gutters, is required. Experience in evaluating all kinds of iron, steel, aluminum and selecting the best quality of tools and equipment is required. Experience in sheet metal work for mechanical, electrical or HVAC installations is desirable. Previous attendance of safety awareness training to avoid hazards is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required.
