UN Women is the United Nations entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. A global champion for women and girls, UN Women was established to accelerate progress on meeting their needs worldwide. It is the global champion for gender equality, working to develop and uphold standards and create an environment in which every woman and girl can exercise her human rights and live up to her full potential.
UN Women supports UN Member States as they set global standards for achieving gender equality, and works with governments and civil society to design laws, policies, programmes and services needed to ensure that the standards are effectively implemented and truly benefit women and girls worldwide. It works globally to make the vision of the Sustainable Development Goals a reality for women and girls and stands behind women’s equal participation in all aspects of life.
To create an enabling environment for the realization of gender equality and women’s empowerment, UN Women Lebanon advocates and supports social mobilization for legislative reform, works with the partners and the Government of Lebanon to build gender responsive institutions, and delivers essential services to women and girls in need – Lebanese and refugees.
Working for the empowerment and rights of women and girls globally, UN Women’s main roles are:
• To support inter-governmental bodies, such as the Commission on the Status of Women, in their formulation of policies, global standards and norms.
• To help Member States implement these standards, standing ready to provide suitable technical and financial support to those countries that request it, and to forge effective partnerships with civil society.
To lead and coordinate the UN system’s work on gender equality, as well as promote accountability, including through regular monitoring of system-wide progress
The UN Volunteer will support UN Women Lebanon’s Governance, Peace and Political Leadership (GPPL) Unit in the development of a series of short-form animated communications, advocacy and visibility products.
The assignment will focus specifically on motion graphics and animation. UN Women will provide the core visual assets and graphic elements, primarily developed in Adobe Illustrator and/or Adobe Photoshop, together with approved text, messaging and overall creative direction. The UN Volunteer will be responsible for translating these materials into engaging, polished animated products suitable for digital communications, social media, video presentations, events and other programme visibility and advocacy purposes.
The assignment is expected to contribute to the production of up to 20 animated products, approximately 30–90 seconds in duration, with all final products to be completed by December 2026.
Products may be developed in English, Arabic or bilingually. Arabic-language copy and translations will be provided by UN Women. The UN Volunteer is therefore not required to draft or translate Arabic content but must demonstrate the technical capacity to work accurately with Arabic-language graphic and text assets, including appropriate treatment of Arabic typography and right-to-left layouts.
Under GPPL Programme manager, and guidance of the GPPL Communication Specialist working closely with the GPPL Unit, the UN Volunteer will:
• Produce and deliver up to 20 short-form motion graphic and animated products of approximately 30–90 seconds each;
• Animate graphic elements, illustrations, typography, icons, data visualisations and other visual assets provided by UN Women;
• Translate static Adobe Illustrator and/or Adobe Photoshop assets into dynamic, visually engaging animations while maintaining the established visual identity and creative direction;
• Develop appropriate transitions, movement, pacing and sequencing to support the narrative and key messages of each product;
• Produce and animate visual content in English, Arabic and/or bilingually, using approved copy provided by UN Women and ensuring appropriate treatment of Arabic typography, right-to-left text, bilingual layouts and visual hierarchy;
• Integrate text, subtitles/captions, music, sound effects and/or voice-over materials where required and provided;
• Consider the intended use and format of each product from the outset, ensuring animations are appropriately developed and formatted for dissemination across UN Women’s social media channels and/or for use in video presentations, events and other digital displays;
• Adapt final products to relevant dimensions and aspect ratios as required, including vertical, square and landscape formats for social media and presentation use;
• Ensure that animation, typography, pacing and other visual elements remain clear, legible and effective across different formats and screen sizes;
• Ensure all products comply with UN Women branding and visibility requirements and, where relevant, applicable donor visibility requirements;
• Incorporate consolidated feedback from UN Women and undertake revisions necessary to finalize each product;
• Maintain organized editable project files and provide both final exported products and editable/source files upon completion;
• Ensure accessibility considerations, including legibility, appropriate pacing and captioning, where relevant;
• Work according to an agreed production schedule to ensure completion of all required products by December 2026.
Scope clarification: The assignment does not primarily involve the development of original graphic design assets.
