The People and Culture Officer position is based within the People and Culture Unit of UNICEF Ethiopia Country Office in Addis Ababa and supports the delivery of strategic and operational human resources services that enable UNICEF to achieve results for children across Ethiopia. The role contributes to attracting, developing, and retaining a high-performing and diverse workforce while ensuring the consistent application of UNICEF policies, procedures, and people management practices.
Reporting to the People and Culture Manager, the incumbent provides research, analysis, and HR advisory support across a broad range of human resources functions, including talent acquisition, performance management, learning and development, workforce planning, and HR data analytics. The position works closely with managers and staff across the Country Office to strengthen people management practices, promote organizational effectiveness, and foster an inclusive and supportive workplace culture.
Purpose for the job
The People and Culture Officer reports to the People and Culture Manager for close guidance, training and supervision. The Officer provides support to the supervisor and colleagues in the unit by executing HR services through applying knowledge of theoretical HR models, as well as understanding of organizational HR policies and procedures.

UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance. Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station is required for IP positions and will be facilitated by UNICEF. Failure to comply with such requirements, where applicable and without a duly approved medical exemption from the relevant UN authority, will result in the cancellation of the selection or may lead to other administrative measures, including separation from service.
