For more information on ITS, see this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9 v=VTFGffa1Y7w Unit Context The ITS Financial Technology (ITSFT) unit enables critical Finance and Accounting functions through enterprise platforms supporting financial management, accounting, budgeting, reporting, analytics, external reporting, trust fund management, lending operations, and institutional performance management. The unit manages and modernizes enterprise data and analytics platforms including SAP BW, SAP Business Objects, Azure-based data platforms, and reporting solutions while supporting strategic initiatives related to data modernization, cloud adoption, operational reporting, compliance, and financial transparency. Duties and Accountabilities Role Purpose The Platform Engineer (SAP BW Data Platform) is responsible for the engineering, administration, modernization, and operational excellence of the World Bank Group's enterprise analytics and data platforms. The role supports SAP BW on HANA, Business Objects, SAP data integration technologies, Azure-based data platforms, and enterprise reporting solutions. The Platform Engineer collaborates with product owners, architects, data engineers, business stakeholders, and infrastructure teams to ensure platform reliability, performance, scalability, security, governance, and continuous improvement. The position contributes to the evolution of enterprise analytics capabilities through automation, modernization initiatives, cloud adoption, DevOps practices, observability, and platform engineering principles, enabling trusted and timely business insights across financial and operational domains. Key Responsibilities SAP BW Platform Engineering • Administer, maintain, and optimize SAP BW on HANA environments. • Manage platform upgrades, patches, transport, performance tuning, and capacity planning. • Support business-critical financial and operational reporting processes. • Ensure platform availability, resiliency, scalability, and operational stability. • Support BW upgrade, modernization and migration initiatives, including cloud and next-generation analytics platforms. • Perform professional-level analysis and platform engineering activities across data and analytics platforms. • Solve moderately complex platforms, integration, performance, and operational challenges. • Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to define solutions and drive continuous improvement. • Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing within the platform engineering and analytics delivery teams. • Apply practical expertise across data platforms, analytics architecture, cloud technologies, integration, security, and operational support. Integration Data Operations • Manage SAP BW, SAP ECC, SAP BODS, and related enterprise data integrations. • Support incident response, root cause analysis, and issue remediation activities. • Collaborate with upstream and downstream application teams to ensure reliable data movement and processing. • Monitor platform health, data loads, and integration performance. Analytics Reporting Platforms • Support Business Objects, Power BI, Bex, Analysis for Office and enterprise reporting solutions. • Ensure reporting platform performance, reliability, and operational excellence. • Partner with business stakeholders to enable trusted, timely, and scalable reporting capabilities. Security, Risk Compliance • Ensure compliance with World Bank security, audit, data governance, and operational risk requirements. • Support security reviews, vulnerability remediation, and platform hardening activities. • Participate in audit response and compliance remediation efforts. • Maintain appropriate controls for access management, data protection, and system integrity. Agile Delivery Collaboration • Participate in SAFe Agile ceremonies including PI Planning, Iteration Planning, Reviews, and Retrospectives. • Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, Scrum Masters, and Engineering teams to prioritize platform improvements. • Contribute to backlog refinement and technical roadmap planning. • Support continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
