Context
Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants. Since 1979, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) has implemented Assisted Voluntary Return (AVR) programmes as a rights‑based response to support migrants who are unable or unwilling to remain in host or transit countries and who choose to return voluntarily to their countries of origin. Over time, these programmes evolved into Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR), reflecting IOM’s recognition that return is only one stage of the migration cycle and must be complemented by sustainable reintegration support. Through AVRR, IOM expanded its approach to include tailored post‑arrival assistance, promoting returnees’ economic self‑sufficiency, social stability, and psychosocial well‑being, in line with its broader mandate to ensure safe, orderly, and dignified migration
IOM is committed to ensuring a workplace where all employees can thrive professionally, while working towards harnessing the full potential of migration. Read more about IOM's workplace culture at IOM workplace culture | International Organization for Migration
