The primary objective of this assignment is to support the ESCWA Technology Centre (ETC) in the planning, coordination and implementation of the Arab SMEs Summit (ASMES) 2026 and other ETC events and programmes. The Individual Contractor will support stakeholder engagement, coordination of the ASMES website and mobile application, management of participant information in English and Arabic, organization of pitching sessions, investor engagement, coaching and mentoring activities, partnership and Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) events, as well as reporting, communications and programme coordination functions to ensure the successful delivery of ASMES 2026 and related ETC initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities
Background The ESCWA Technology Centre (ETC) is preparing for the Arab SMEs Summit (ASMES) 2026, a flagship regional event that will bring together entrepreneurs, SMEs, policymakers, development partners, private sector representatives, innovation ecosystem actors and support organizations from across the Arab region. The Summit will serve as a platform for showcasing entrepreneurship, innovation, digital transformation initiatives, SME success stories and strategic partnerships. To support the successful delivery of ASMES 2026 and other ETC events and programmes, ETC seeks an Individual Contractor to provide administrative, coordination and programme support. The Contractor will support the management and coordination of the ASMES 2026 website and mobile application, pitching sessions, investor engagement activities, coaching and mentoring programmes, partnership and Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) activities, stakeholder engagement, reporting and other programme coordination functions to ensure the smooth and professional execution of ETC activities. The IC will work under the supervision of the Executive Director of the ESCWA Technology Centre (ETC). In particular, the Project Coordinator will be tasked to do the following: Tasks and Responsibilities 1. Coordinate the management and updating of the ASMES 2026 website, including liaising with relevant stakeholders to collect, review and organize information related to different categories of participants; ensuring the timely publication, accuracy and completeness of participant profiles and related content in both English and Arabic; and coordinating with service providers to support website functionality, content updates and user experience. 2. Support the implementation and management of the ASMES 2026 mobile application, including testing, launch activities, user training, participant support, coordination with service providers, and monitoring the utilization and performance of application features. 3. Coordinate Summit pitching sessions and innovation showcases by liaising with participating SMEs and startups, collecting presentations and supporting materials, coordinating schedules and communications, and supporting the smooth delivery of pitching activities. 4. Coordinate the planning and implementation of Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremonies, partnership announcements and related networking activities, including stakeholder engagement, preparation of event materials, communication support and visibility activities. 5. Support the organization and delivery of investor engagement activities, including coordination with investors, SMEs and speakers participating in investor spotlight sessions, facilitating matchmaking opportunities, and supporting stakeholder engagement and follow-up activities. 6. Support the coordination of coaching and mentoring sessions by liaising with coaches, mentors and participating SMEs, managing schedules, facilitating participant engagement, and supporting the effective delivery of mentoring activities. 7. Support coordination among internal teams, partners, consultants and service providers, monitor progress against activity workplans, and contribute to the effective implementation of ASMES 2026 and other ETC programmes and activities. 8. Perform any other related administrative, coordination and programme support duties as required by the ESCWA Technology Centre. The Individual Contractor will work under the supervision of the Acting Director of the ESCWA Technology Centre.
Qualifications/special skills
A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Project Management, Communications, Marketing, Engineering, Information Technology, Economics, Entrepreneurship, International Development, Event Management, or a related field relevant to programme coordination, stakeholder engagement, digital innovation, entrepreneurship ecosystems, partnerships and event delivery is required. All candidates must submit a copy of the required educational degree. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. A minimum of 5 years of practical experience encompassing project coordination, program administration, program management assistance, and other relevant fields closely associated with the role is required. Digital Platforms and Participant Engagement: Demonstrated experience in supporting digital platforms, including testing and quality assurance activities, participant communications, user support, monitoring platform performance, and coordination with service providers is required. Organizational Skills: The ability to efficiently manage tasks, time, and resources, ensuring clear project coordination and prioritization is requried. Attention to Details: Meticulously reviewing work to identify and correct errors or inconsistencies is desirable. Flexibility: Adaptability to changing tasks, roles, and responsibilities in dynamic work environments is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; and Arabic is a working language of ESCWA. For this position, fluency in Arabic and English required. Note: “Fluency” equals a rating of ‘fluent’ in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and “Knowledge of” equals a rating of ‘confident’ in two of the four areas.
