Assignment context
The UN Peace Support Facility (PSF) supports the peace process in Yemen through confidence-building and peacebuilding initiatives, in support of the objectives of OSESGY and the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office. The UN Volunteer will support project coordination, partner liaison, procurement processes, knowledge and information management, and gender mainstreaming to facilitate the effective and timely implementation of PSF activities.
Task description
Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager, the Project Officer will support the effective implementation of project activities and operational, administrative, and procurement processes, and ensure effective communication and coordination with stakeholders. The incumbent is expected to exercise full compliance with UNDP programming, procurement, and administrative rules, regulations, policies, and strategies. Specific functions and duties include:
• Project coordination and stakeholder engagement
- Coordinate day-to-day implementation of the project’s work plan and activities, tracking progress and ensuring alignment with agreed objectives, timelines, and budgets.
- Liaise with government entities, civil society organizations (CSOs), academic institutions and other relevant stakeholders to facilitate planning, partnership building, and delivery of project activities.
- Collaborate with UNDP Country Office units (e.g. procurement, finance, communications) to ensure compliance with UNDP rules and regulations.
• Monitoring and reporting
- Support timely preparation and submission of periodic progress reports, meeting minutes, financial reports, and other ad hoc reporting requirements.
- Maintain the project risk register and issues logs, escalating significant challenges to the Project Manager as needed.
- Update the project asset register and ensure asset registration and handover processes are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
• Knowledge management and communications
- Collaborate with the M&E Analyst to document lessons learned, success stories, and best practices, and disseminate them across the Project Team, UNDP Yemen Country Office, and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate with communications colleagues to develop public outreach materials and social media content, ensuring visibility of donors and partners.
• Effective gender mainstreaming into the project
- Ensure gender considerations are systematically integrated into project planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting, in line with UNDP policies and standards.
- Support the collection and analysis of sex and age-disaggregated data and identify practical measures to promote women’s meaningful participation and equitable access to project benefits.
- Coordinate with relevant colleagues and partners to strengthen gender-responsive approaches.
Perform any other related duties or responsibilities that may be assigned by the supervisor to ensure the success of the Project and UNDP Yemen’s programmes.
Skills and experience
- 3 years of relevant professional experience in project coordination, project management, programme support, partnership coordination, or a related area.
- Experience in partner liaison, coordination, and follow-up of project activities and deliverables.
- Knowledge of procurement and administrative processes.
- Strong information management, research, analytical, and reporting skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Experience in knowledge management and documentation of lessons learned and good practices.
- Understanding of gender equality and gender mainstreaming.
- Good computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. National UN Volunteers are part of the medical insurance plan.
