Assignment context
The Youth Empowerment Initiative in Indonesia focuses on investing in and empowering young people to accelerate progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through the Youth Ultra Micro Entrepreneurship Empowerment (YUMEE) project, UNDP Indonesia aims to empower 400 young women-owned ultra-micro enterprises (UMEs) and 100 university students (aged 18–30) in rural areas by enhancing their access to financial services, business skills, and digital tools.
To maximize community-level impact, the YUMEE project collaborates with BTPN Syariah's BESTEE Programme, where the university youth will be intensively prepared to serve as dedicated business companions to the participating ultra-micro enterprises. By equipping these micro-entrepreneurs and young mentors with critical resources and knowledge, this collaborative initiative drives inclusive local economic development and advances sustainable capabilities for resilient livelihoods.
