Result of Service
The consultancy will produce a localized, professionally produced Tsunami Song and music video with Indonesian artists and students for World Tsunami Awareness Day 2026 in Indonesia and support the campaign roll-out in Indonesia through school-based activities involving the Tsunami Song. Final outputs (song and video) should be delivered in Bahasa Indonesia, with English sub-titles for the video.

Duties and Responsibilities
Background Created in December 1999, the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) is the designated focal point in the United Nations system for the coordination of efforts to reduce disasters and to ensure synergies among the disaster reduction activities of the United Nations and regional organizations and activities in both developed and less developed countries. Led by the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction (SRSG), UNDRR has over 150 staff located in its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, and in regional offices. Specifically, UNDRR guides, monitors, analyses, and reports on progress in the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030, supports regional and national implementation of the Framework and catalyzes action, and increases global awareness to reduce disaster risk by working with the U.N. Member States and a broad range of partners and stakeholders, including civil society, the private sector, parliamentarians, and the science and technology community. UNDRR's risk communication programme supports governments, media, scientists, and communities to communicate about disaster risk more effectively in order to: • Develop and promote behavior change strategies and activities to reduce disaster impacts and strengthen preparedness; • Ensure risk information reaches the last mile, including the most at-risk populations: • Increase the visibility of the importance of disaster risk reduction and mobilize people to demand change and increased investment in prevention and preparedness. As part of the World Tsunami Awareness Day campaign 2026 to be organized in Indonesia, UNDRR seeks to engage a home-based consultant to undertake the following roles and responsibilities. The consultant will work under the supervision of the External Relation Officer of UNDRR, Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific. 1. Music localization and production: Adapt the Tsunami Song produced in Timor-Leste in 2025 into Indonesian language; tailor the preparedness messages in the lyrics with UNDRR, the Government of Indonesia and other technical partners to the local context; and record and mix a release-ready track incorporating locally relevant musical elements. Selection and engagement of local artists: Identify and assess Indonesian musicians and youth or school performers; and support their selection based on cultural relevance, audience reach, availability and fit with the World Tsunami Awareness campaign 2026 in Indonesia. 3. World Tsunami Awareness Day: Support the development of the event concept and programme and the integration of the Tsunami Song into an in-person school event in Indonesia. Prepare performance and educational components. 4. Video production: Develop the concept and script; film local performers and participating schools or communities in Indonesia; combine performances with local footage; and edit, subtitle and deliver a campaign-ready version of the music video of the Tsunami Song for digital distribution and use during and after World Tsunami Awareness Day activities in Indonesia.
Qualifications/special skills
An advanced university degree (master's degree or equivalent) in social sciences, communication, journalism, international development, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree with at least 2 additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A minimum of five (5) years of experience in disaster risk communication, community engagement, behavioral change, or public education is required. Experience in designing and developing creative risk communication products targeting young people and implementing public awareness campaigns is required. Experience working in risk communication projects in Southeast Asia is required.
Languages
Fluency of English is required.
