Areas of expertise: Information technology and telecommunications, Emergency preparedness, crisis response, Human resources

Application deadline: 08/11/2026

Mission and objectives

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is the UN organization that supports human development globally by promoting volunteerism and by mobilizing volunteers. It is administered by UNDP and operates amidst growing recognition that volunteerism makes important contributions, economically and socially, to more cohesive societies by building trust and reciprocity among citizens.

Assignment context

Community Volunteers play a key role in supporting local activities and strengthening community engagement in Yemen. To attract qualified applicants, particularly from the targeted duty stations, and facilitate their successful application and recruitment, the UNV Yemen Field Unit is seeking Online Volunteers to support vacancy promotion and guide potential and selected candidates through the UNV recruitment process.

The Online Volunteers will share vacancy announcement links through relevant networks and channels to reach potential applicants in the specified duty stations. They will also provide individual or small-group online guidance to help interested candidates navigate the UNV application system, complete their applications, understand the required documentation, and proceed through the recruitment steps.

By expanding the outreach of vacancy announcements and providing practical, step-by-step assistance, the Online Volunteers will help increase applications from targeted locations, address common barriers to applying, reduce delays, and improve the overall recruitment experience.

Task description

Under the guidance of the UNV Yemen Client Engagement Assistant, the Online Volunteers will:
- Conduct tutorial calls: Organize and facilitate online calls with selected candidates to explain the recruitment process and the steps they need to complete.
- Explain recruitment requirements: Guide candidates through the required documentation, administrative procedures and other applicable pre-recruitment steps, using guidance provided by the UNV team.
- Provide step-by-step support: Help candidates understand what actions they need to take, where to complete them and what to do if they encounter difficulties.
- Address common questions: Identify recurring questions or difficulties and share them with the UNV Yemen team to help improve candidate guidance.
- Track completion and follow-up: Maintain a simple progress tracker indicating which guidance sessions have taken place and which recruitment steps candidates may still need to complete, in coordination with the UNV team.
- Share recommendations: Provide a brief summary of common challenges and suggestions for making the recruitment guidance clearer and more accessible.
Each volunteer should support five community volunteers from the start until entering the duties

Skills and experience

-Previous or current UN Volunteers, particularly those familiar with the UNV recruitment process, are encouraged to apply.
-Experience in human resources, recruitment, onboarding, volunteer management, training or mentoring.
-Ability to explain administrative procedures in a clear, practical and accessible way.
-Experience facilitating online meetings or providing remote guidance and support.

Full eligibility requirements, conditions of service and application instructions are available on the official UNV platform.
