Assignment context

The volunteer will support the development of communication products and digital content. Through this assignment, the volunteer will contribute to promoting inclusive and sustainable human development by helping to amplify key development messages, support public engagement, and foster greater understanding of the UN’s efforts to leave no one behind in Guyana.

Task description

The Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Guyana is seeking an online volunteer to support communications and advocacy initiatives. The volunteer will:
1. Support communications planning for the inaugural Model United Nations (October 24), including developing the event's brand and creating relevant products (table labels, screen backgrounders, etc.)
2. Assist in implementing the communications plan for the UN Guyana 60th anniversary event with the government (October 15 or 16).
3. Support development of digital campaigns for the 16 days of activism (November 28 to December 10), including monitoring and analysing performance metrics.
4. Compile a final report summarizing activities and outputs.

Skills and experience

Education:
University degree/certificates or current studies in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Media Studies, International Relations, Development Studies, Graphic Design, Film Production, or a related field.

Professional Experience:
• Experience in communications, digital media, journalism, public information, advocacy, social media management, content creation, or a related area.
• Experience producing and editing videos for social media, websites, campaigns, or events.
• Experience drafting articles, news stories, press releases, reports, or other communication products for diverse audiences.
• Experience supporting events, workshops, conferences, or public engagement activities is desirable.
• Previous experience working with international organizations, non-governmental organizations, government institutions, or development partners would be an asset.

Technical Skills
• Proficiency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, Final Cut Pro, or similar applications.
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills in English.
• Familiarity with social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, X, and YouTube.
• Experience using graphic design tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams.
