Host entity: Action Lab For Development Association

Application deadline: 19/10/2026

Mission and objectives

Action Lab for Development (ACTLAB) is a not-for-profit organisation that advances education and community development through structured training in entrepreneurship, innovation and vocational skills; knowledge-sharing initiatives, workshops and collaborative learning; and skill-based volunteering and digital platforms that promote knowledge exchange, community-based learning and collaborative problem-solving. Its programmes seek to expand educational and development opportunities for youth, women, economically disadvantaged people and communities, while fostering innovation, social cohesion and sustainable development. ACTLAB’s key objectives are to: • advance education through structured training in entrepreneurship, innovation and vocational skills, particularly for youth, women and economically disadvantaged people; • organise workshops, seminars and knowledge-sharing activities that connect entrepreneurs, educators and partner institutions; • promote skill-based volunteering, digital learning, knowledge exchange and community-based problem-solving; and • use technology and collaborative initiatives to support community development and sustainable development. ACTLAB has held Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) since 2020. It expanded internationally through registration as an Extra-Provincial Corporation in Alberta, Canada, in 2024, followed by incorporation as Action Lab for Development Association under Alberta’s Societies Act on 15 July 2025. ACTLAB also develops MoralityCode AI, a free and open-source mobile moral artificial intelligence initiative exploring how AI can be guided by human values, ethics and compassion. Through its online volunteering and learning programmes, ACTLAB engages people worldwide in sharing knowledge and contributing to sustainable development initiatives.

Assignment context

Action Lab for Development is launching a 12-week Digital Advocacy and Knowledge-Sharing Initiative to expand access to learning and highlight its work in education, innovation, community development and responsible artificial intelligence. Online Volunteers will support ACTLAB by sharing approved educational content, amplifying project information and helping connect relevant resources with wider audiences–particularly youth, educators, community members and grassroots changemakers.
As part of this initiative, ACTLAB's AI4D/IDIA Cohort 2 project in Cameroon will also be featured. The project, implemented in Bamenda, Douala and Yaoundé, focuses on AI literacy, ethical reflection, community voice, AI governance and responsible AI use. MoralityCode AI, developed by ACTLAB, may also be featured as an example of technology exploring the relationship between artificial intelligence, human values, ethics and compassion.
