Strategic Plan

1. Conduct public environment education, sponsor volunteers’ organization, promote public participation in environment protection.

2. Focus on ecological and environmental problems in typical regions. Improve regional eco-environment by demonstration and setting good examples.

3. Encourage social supervision in the solution of water pollution and in protecting the water resource safety.

4. Strength the organization construction and improve team innovation capability to achieve sustainable development of the organization.

5. Establish cooperation and communication mechanisms to strengthen the experiences exchanges among different civil organizations.

Assignment context

We are seeking 10 Online Volunteers, with specific responsibilities as follows:

(1) Research – 4 Online Volunteers
Volunteers will conduct research and collect background information on:
Grassland restoration and sustainable pastoralism;
Land degradation neutrality (LDN);
Climate adaptation and ecosystem resilience;
Renewable energy applications in pastoral and rural communities;
Community-based natural resource management and traditional knowledge;
Relevant practices and experiences from China, Mongolia, and other countries in the Global South.

(2) Translation – 2 Online Volunteers
Volunteers will assist with translating approximately 40 pages of materials between English and Chinese, including event descriptions, presentations, background documents, briefing materials, and other COP17-related communications.

(3) Documentation – 1 Online Volunteer
The volunteer will assist in organizing, proofreading, and editing meeting notes, event records, speaker information, and other related documentation in English, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and consistency.

(4) Design – 1 Online Volunteer
The volunteer will support the design and layout of 3–4 flyers and visual materials related to COP17 side events, Green Camel Bell's grassland and renewable energy projects, and exhibition activities.

(5) Communication and Outreach – 2 Online Volunteers
Volunteers will support communication and outreach activities, including preparing and distributing event updates, social media content, newsletters, and media materials, as well as helping to amplify COP17 activities and key messages through online platforms.

Task description

Green Camel Bell is recruiting Online Volunteers to support our preparations for the upcoming 17th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP17).

Online Volunteers will assist in preparing materials for side events and exhibition activities related to grassland restoration, land degradation neutrality, climate adaptation, renewable energy, and community-based approaches to sustainable pastoral development.

Tasks will include research, translation, drafting and proofreading materials, graphic design, communication and outreach, and coordination with team members to compile relevant information and prepare event materials. Volunteers will participate in virtual meetings when needed and provide regular updates on their tasks. Work will be conducted through email, online collaboration platforms, and virtual calls. This role will be delivered entirely online; no physical presence in Ulaanbaatar is required.

Skills and experience

Strong research and writing skills, particularly in environmental sustainability, land degradation, grassland management, climate change, or sustainable development.
Familiarity with desertification, land degradation neutrality (LDN), climate adaptation, sustainable pastoralism, or community-based natural resource management is an advantage.
Good understanding of international environmental and sustainable development discussions, particularly those related to UNCCD and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Previous experience with international conferences, UN processes, environmental NGOs, or civil society engagement is an advantage but not required.
Good English communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a remote, international team.
Commitment to environmental sustainability, community-based approaches, and the goals of UNCCD COP17.
