Assignment context
Established in 2019, The UNDP Resilience Hub for Africa is a thematic hub with a mandate on resilience covering 46 nations across Sub-Saharan Africa. The Hub works to help governments, communities and institutions build resilience through sustainable development.
The Great Lakes Region (Burundi, DRC, Rwanda, Kenya, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Angola) holds significant untapped potential for economic growth in agriculture, livestock, trade, logistics, and cross-border commerce. Yet the region continues to face fragility, weak market integration, and limited economic opportunities for youth, women, displaced populations, and border communities. While many development programmes generate strong research on these opportunities, few succeed in turning it into real partnerships, investments, and jobs — this requires active engagement between governments, businesses, financial institutions, and investors, not just analysis.
The REST-GLR programme supports economic transformation across seven trade corridors in the region by promoting medium-sized enterprises as "anchor" businesses that connect smallholder farmers, cooperatives, and women- and youth-led enterprises into stronger markets. As UNDP commissions assessments on Agri-Food Systems, Livestock Markets, and Agricultural Finance to identify opportunities, this assignment supports the next step: engaging potential partners and building the relationships needed to turn these findings into investment-ready projects.
UNDP therefore seeks to engage an online volunteer to provide translation services in support of the REST-GLR programme’s documentation needs.
The key assignments will include translation of the following material:
1. Country Office Input Collector- 19 pages
2. Guideline for intergovernmental consultation in work planning – 4 pages
3. Outcome document- 6 pages
4. Country by country programme packages
5. Consolidated multi country program document.
* Note that the document translations will be handled gradually.
