Assignment context
Sport Values in Every Classroom Toolkit (SViECT) was designed to integrate the universal values of sport — respect, equity and inclusion into educational settings through movement-based activities. These provide a strong foundation for young people to contribute positively to their societies.
In India, the global toolkit was contextualized, adapting activities to include more movement-based games for young children as well as indigenous games such as Kabaddi, Pithoo/Lagori, Thalapanthukali, Yubi Lakpi, Puchi and Kho-Kho. The paper-based toolkit was also supplemented with concise digital video modules to enhance dissemination.
Each of the 30 contextualized modules was piloted in schools across three Indian to ensure relevance and to prompt student reflection on the corresponding values. An accompanying video for each module demonstrates the activity for teachers' reference.
The SViECT package comprises of:
- 30 videos (5–7 minutes each)
- A set of 30 activity cards
- A facilitator manual to guide teachers, educators and practitioners in effective use of the toolkit
The translation work will ensure access to this toolkit for teachers and students in Sri Lanka.
