Assignment context
- Proven experience in professional translation from English to Chinese, preferably in the fields of public health, international development, or technical cooperation.
- Excellent command of both English and Chinese, with the ability to accurately convey complex and technical content in a clear, diplomatic, and culturally appropriate manner.
- Familiarity with health-related terminology, particularly in areas such as noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), health systems strengthening, and development cooperation frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience in translating official documents, proposals, or reports addressed to governmental or international institutions.
- Strong attention to detail, with a focus on terminology consistency, grammar, and formatting.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and deliver high-quality, publication-ready translations.
Task description
The online volunteer will be responsible for providing a complete and accurate translation of the funding proposal documents from English to Chinese.
Key responsibilities include:
- Translating the full content of the document with attention to technical terminology related to public health, noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), and international development.
- Ensuring that the tone remains formal, diplomatic, and aligned with official communications addressed to a government entity.
- Preserving the formatting and structure of the original document where relevant.
- Conducting a final quality check to ensure linguistic and conceptual accuracy.
The final translated document must be ready for submission to Chinese governmental authorities, and thus requires the highest level of linguistic precision and contextual understanding.
Skills and experience
Candidates should be native in Chinese and fluent in English.
