Mission and objectives
Istanbul International Centre for Private Sector in Development (ICPSD) supports the private sector and foundations to become transformative partners in development through research, advocacy for inclusive business, facilitation of public-private dialogue and brokering partnerships. ICPSD, established in 2011 in partnership with the Government of Türkiye, is one of UNDP's six Global Policy Centres. It leads UNDP’s global work on private sector and foundations and supports UNDP’s offices all over the world. The Center focuses on four thematic areas:
1. Inclusive Business;
2. Private Sector Engagement in Skills Development;
3. Impact investing;
4. Resilience and Crisis Response.
The Center also hosts four global initiatives: Business Call to Action, SDG Philanthropy Platform, Global Islamic Finance and Impact Investing Platform and Connecting Business Initiative.
Under its work on private sector engagement in skills development, UNDP ICPSD supports the Skills for an Inclusive Future (S4IF) Network, which promotes partnerships and practical solutions to strengthen future-ready skills. This Online Volunteer assignment will support the preparation and delivery of a four-week Green and Digital Skills Training Programme focusing on the skills needed for the green and digital transitions in Türkiye's energy sector.
Assignment context
The online volunteers will support selected training components according to their areas of expertise. Each volunteer will prepare the relevant training materials and deliver the assigned online session(s), in coordination with the UNDP ICPSD team.
Task description
UNDP ICPSD is seeking four Online Volunteers to support the preparation and delivery of selected sessions under a four-week Green and Digital Skills Training Programme. The programme aims to strengthen participants' understanding and practical skills related to the green and digital transitions, with a particular focus on Türkiye's energy sector.
The Online Volunteers will contribute according to their respective areas of expertise. Depending on the assigned training topic, each Online Volunteer will:
- Review the relevant training programme and learning objectives provided by UNDP ICPSD;
- Develop clear and engaging training materials for the assigned session(s), including presentations, practical exercises, case studies, demonstrations or other relevant learning materials;
- Coordinate with the UNDP ICPSD team to ensure that the content is appropriate for the target audience and aligned with the overall training programme;
- Deliver the assigned session(s) online, using practical examples and interactive methods where appropriate;
- Respond to participants' questions during the session(s); and
- Incorporate feedback from UNDP ICPSD and make any necessary final adjustments to the training materials.
The training topics may include renewable energy technologies and the green transition; environmental responsibility and sustainability; digitalization and data use in the energy sector; data visualization and dashboards; prompt-driven coding; career pathways and employability; equality and inclusion; and other related green and digital skills topics.
Training materials will be developed in English. Training sessions may be delivered in English and/or Turkish depending on the selected Online Volunteer's language skills and the final programme arrangements.
Skills and experience
- University degree or advanced university studies in engineering, energy, environmental studies, sustainability, information technologies, data-related fields, education, or another relevant discipline.
- Demonstrated knowledge or practical experience in one or more of the following areas: green transition, renewable energy, energy efficiency, digital transformation, data and digital tools, artificial intelligence, employability, inclusion, or skills development.
- Knowledge of twin transition in the energy sector and/or green and digital skills development.
- Experience in training, teaching, facilitation, mentoring or development of learning materials is highly desirable.
- Ability to explain technical or specialized concepts in a clear and accessible manner to learners with different levels of prior knowledge.
- Good communication and presentation skills and ability to work collaboratively in an online environment.
