How can you make a difference?

UNICEF Haiti is looking for a results-driven Advocacy and Communication Officer to join our team in Port-au-Prince. If you're passionate about using strategic communications to drive change for children, this is your opportunity to make an impact.

As our Advocacy and Communication Officer, you will support the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of integrated advocacy and communication strategies, working collaboratively across teams and with external partners to influence policy and practice, strengthen political and financial commitments for children, and deliver measurable results. Through strategic advocacy, partnerships, and innovative digital communications, you will raise awareness of children's rights, mobilize public support, enhance UNICEF's visibility and credibility, and contribute to improved outcomes for every child.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have...

Minimum requirements:

  • Education: A completed first level university degree or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree) in Journalism, Political Science, Communications, International Relations and any other related fields is required.
  • Work Experience: At least two (2) years of experience in advocacy, communications or campaigning, at a national, regional or global level is required.
    Experience in supporting the development of clear theories of change, with specific, measurable and timebound objectives and performance indicators is required.

    Demonstrated experience in supporting and/or managing projects to completion, including developing and implementing clear processes, and budget management is required.
    Experience in digital communications and managing online platforms and channels is required.
    Experience in supporting the effective functioning of a team is required.
    Knowledge of children’s rights, public policy, international development, and humanitarian issues.
  • Skills: Ability to manage and monitor projects effectively, ensuring timely delivery and achievement of objectives.
    Ability to develop and implement digital communication strategies and content across relevant channels.

    Proficiency in managing digital platforms and online communication channels.
  • Language Requirements: Proficiency in French and intermediate level of English are required.

Desirables:

  • Language: Proficiency in Créole and knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
  • Experience working for an advocacy or campaigning organization e.g. national or international NGO, UN or other multilateral organization is an asset.
  • Experience in supporting training and facilitation is an asset.
  • Experience working in a developing and emergency environment is an asset.
  • Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.

UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance. Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station is required for IP positions and will be facilitated by UNICEF. Failure to comply with such requirements, where applicable and without a duly approved medical exemption from the relevant UN authority, will result in the cancellation of the selection or may lead to other administrative measures, including separation from service.
