The Position/Project/Office Background
The Field Driver contributes to the implementation of UNFPA’s Country Programme by providing logistical and administrative support for the UNFPA programme in Legazpi City. He will be responsible for ensuring reliable and safe driving services for the transport of UNFPA staff, officials and visitors; delivery and collection of mail and documentation; meeting official personnel and visitors at the designated locations. The Field Driver will manage all aspects of vehicle maintenance, minor repairs and cleaning to ensure the vehicle is kept in good running condition.
Job Responsibilities
The Field Driver will carry out the following tasks:
- Drives for UN/UNFPA officials and staff. Ensures provision of reliable and safe driving services by a) driving office vehicles for the transport of UN/UNFPA staff, officials and visitors and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items, and b) meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport including visa and customs formalities arrangement when required.
- Ensures cost-savings through proper use of vehicles through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and vehicle history reports.
- Ensures proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes and water levels, car washing, etc. so that the vehicle is always kept clean and in good running condition.
- Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle registration, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts in the assigned vehicle.
- Keeps track of insurance and other tax formalities.
- Ensures that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accident.
- When necessary, translate in local language for the office personnel using the car.
Institutional Arrangement
The Field Driver will work under the direct supervision of the Programme Analyst, Gender-Based Violence in Emergencies (GBVie) at the duty station, and in close collaboration with the UNFPA Country Office Senior Driver.
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
Minimum Education requirements: Completed Secondary Level Education (High School)
Knowledge and Experience:
- Minimum years of relevant work experience: Two (2) years' work experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy or UN system with a safe driving record
- Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, chauffeur protocol and courtesies, and local roads and conditions, and defensive driving skill
- Skill in minor vehicle repairs, experience with mechanics is an advantage
Languages:
- Fluency in Filipino and English is required

a) Personal CV and P11, indicating all past positions held and their main underlying functions, their durations (month/year), the qualifications, as well as the contact details (email and telephone number) of the Candidate, and at least three (3) the most recent professional references of previous supervisors. References may also include peers.
b) A cover letter (maximum length: 1 page) indicating why the candidate considers him-/herself to be suitable for the position.
c) Managers may ask (ad hoc) for any other materials relevant to pre-assessing the relevance of their experience, such as reports, presentations, publications, campaigns or other materials.
