Mission and objectives

The UN in the Maldives supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through policy advice and technical capacity aligned to national development priorities outlined in the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF). The UNSDCF covers the period 2027 – 2031 and maps out the UN Development Systems’ collective and integrated response to development opportunities and challenges faced by the Maldives.

The Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) supports evidence-based, coherent and coordinated UN system engagement at country level.

Assignment context

The UN Maldives is developing a Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Strategy to guide its engagement with partners and support resource mobilization efforts. The strategy is currently available as a draft document and requires professional graphic design and formatting to ensure it is visually appealing, accessible and suitable for sharing with relevant stakeholders.

The Online Volunteer will support the Resident Coordinator's Office in transforming the draft into a polished, publication-ready document that reflects UN branding and communication standards.

Task description

UN Maldives is seeking an Online Volunteer with graphic design skills to support the design and layout of its Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Strategy. With guidance from the UN Maldives team, the Online Volunteer will:

• Design and format the Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Strategy (9 pages of approximately 2000 words with several tables).
• Create a professional and visually appealing layout, including formatting of tables and other content.
• Ensure consistency with UN branding and design standards which will be provided.
• Recommend and incorporate suitable visual elements where appropriate.
• Provide guidance on photo requirements and work with images supplied by the UN Maldives team.
• Revise the document based on feedback and deliver publication-ready and editable files.

Expected Deliverables
• Final designed and formatted Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Strategy.
• Publication-ready PDF version.
• Editable source files for future updates.

Skills and experience

Required skills and experience

- Demonstrated experience in graphic design, document layout and publication design.
- Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Canva or equivalent tools.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to present information in a clear, visually appealing and engaging manner.
- Experience designing reports, strategies, publications or similar documents is an asset.
