Mission and objectives

As part of the global UNICEF@80 celebration, UNICEF Algeria is seeking a talented digital illustrator to create a series of original illustrations that capture UNICEF’s enduring commitment to children and the impact of its work over the past eight decades.

The illustrations will help bring to life stories, values and achievements that have shaped UNICEF’s journey, while inspiring continued action for every child.

These visual assets will be used across digital and print communication products throughout the UNICEF@80 campaign.

Assignment context

As part of the UNICEF@80 celebration, UNICEF Algeria seeks to develop a series of ten original digital illustrations that celebrate UNICEF’s legacy, values, and impact for children over the past eight decades. These illustrations will transform key UNICEF@80 themes, milestones, and stories into visually engaging and inspiring content for a wide audience.
 
The selected Online Volunteer will support the creation of original illustrations that can be used across multiple communication formats, including social media, advocacy and awareness materials, presentations, digital publications, and campaign assets. The illustrations will be developed in close coordination with the UNICEF Communications team to ensure alignment with UNICEF branding, child-rights messaging, and the UNICEF@80 visual identity.


By helping create engaging and accessible visual content, the Online Volunteer will contribute to raising awareness of UNICEF’s mission, highlighting decades of impact for children, and inspiring continued action for every child.
 
This assignment contributes to SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by promoting awareness of children’s rights, celebrating collective achievements for children, and strengthening public engagement with UNICEF’s mission and vision for the future.

Task description

Create a series of ten original digital illustrations celebrating UNICEF@80 and UNICEF’s impact for children over the past eight decades.
Translate key UNICEF@80 themes, values and milestones into visually engaging and inspiring content.
Ensure illustrations are suitable for use across:
Social media
Advocacy and communication materials
Presentations and digital publications
Events and campaign assets
Work closely with the UNICEF team to ensure alignment with UNICEF branding, child-rights messaging and the UNICEF@80 campaign objectives.
Expected Deliverables

The volunteer will deliver:

Ten original digital illustrations inspired by UNICEF@80 themes, stories, values and achievements.
Final files optimized for both web and print use.
Editable source files.
A short note describing the illustration style and creative approach adopted for the series.

Skills and experience

Strong digital illustration portfolio - Link to portfolio is mandatory

Experience using tools such as Procreate, Illustrator, Photoshop or similar

Ability to produce clear, inclusive and culturally sensitive visuals

Interest in communication related to children and families

Experience with UN is an asset
