Duties and Responsibilities
The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean is one of the five regional Commissions of the United Nations. It was founded in 1948 with the purpose of contributing to the region's economic and social development. Its mission includes the design, monitoring and evaluation of public policies and the provision of advisory services, expertise, and training to Governments, as well as support for regional and international cooperation and coordination activities. Please visit our website at www.eclac.org for further information. The internship in the Human Resources Section, Santiago, will last 6 months. Candidates may be selected throughout the posting period, on an "as-needed" basis. The Human Resources Section is organized into three areas of work: 1) Recruitment, 2) Staff Administration, and 3) Staff Development and Performance Management. Depending on the needs of the Section and the intern's background and interests, the intern may be assigned to one of these areas. The intern will work under the overall supervision of the Chief of the Human Resources Section and will provide support to the assigned area. Recruitment: • Support the implementation and administration of ECLAC's Internship Programme. • Provide support throughout different stages of the recruitment process, as appropriate. • Assist in maintaining communication channels, outreach databases and recruitment-related information. • Support the organization and maintenance of information and documentation in the Unit's document libraries. • Assist with the preparation and updating of employer branding and outreach materials. • Support the preparation of periodic reports, presentations and other recruitment-related information products. • Assist with the collection and basic analysis of recruitment-related data. • Support the organization of workshops, seminars and presentations related to recruitment activities. • Provide support to recruitment-related projects, as needed. Staff Administration: • Provide support to HR Partners with onboarding and separation activities. • Assist with the review and updating of the Welcome Guide and other materials for new staff. • Support the administration and compilation of information from HR-related surveys. • Assist with the preparation and distribution of HR communications, including memos, contracts, official documents and communications to staff. • Support the preparation of periodic reports and other administrative information. • Assist with updating communication templates and other HR materials. • Provide support to staff administration projects, as needed. Staff Development and Performance Management: • Assist with the preparation and organization of training materials and activities. • Support the maintenance of training attendance records and statistics. • Provide basic administrative support to the e-learning platform. • Assist with scheduling training sessions and videoconferences and coordinating logistical arrangements. • Support the preparation and setup of rooms and equipment for training activities. • Assist with the preparation of training-related communications, evaluations and reports. • Provide support for other training and staff development activities, as needed. • Perform other duties as assigned by the Human Resources Section
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme. Do you meet any of the above criteria? If yes, please indicate which one and attach proof to the application. Please note that you will have to provide an official certificate at a later stage. Relevant training or practical experience MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint) or similar is required. For this internship, studies in Administration, Human Resources, Data Analytics, Communication and Advertising are preferred.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English and Spanish is required for the internship
