Full job description
At the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group (WBG), you’ll join a diverse, global community working across cultures, disciplines, and borders to address the world’s most pressing development challenges. With 1.2 billion young people reaching working age in the decade ahead, the challenge of job creation has never been greater. Through partnerships across 145 countries and more than 182 offices worldwide, we work with governments, private sector, development partners and other stakeholders to invest in people, strengthen markets, and deliver scalable, data-driven solutions that generate more and better jobs and improve lives. In fiscal year 2026, IFC committed a record $105.6 billion to private companies and financial institutions in developing countries. For more information, visit www.ifc.org. Join IFC’s Manufacturing, Agribusiness and Services (MAS) team for East and Southern Africa and help shape private sector growth in Angola, a market where IFC is building its presence and pipeline. You will originate and close investments in tourism, property, retail, health, and education. These sectors create jobs and widen access to quality services. You will be based in Luanda, work with country offices and colleagues in Washington DC, and travel frequently within Africa. You will report to the Regional Industry Manager, Consumer Services, East and Southern Africa. Duties and accountabilities: • Originate and close first-of-their-kind loan, equity, and mezzanine investments in Angola, building IFC’s presence in a frontier market. • Own a pipeline in tourism, property, retail, health, and education that creates jobs and widens access to services with a focus on Angola while contributing to the larger M S team across East and Southern Africa. • Shape deal strategy by judging credit quality and development impact and recommend investments to IFC management. • Lead transactions from mandate to close: due diligence, structuring, negotiation, syndication, and mobilizing private capital. • Manage a growing portfolio and lead restructurings that protect IFC’s investments and clients’ businesses. • Represent IFC with business owners, C-suite executives, and senior government officials, and advise them on financing and impact. • Mentor junior colleagues across offices and share lessons on deal assessment.
