Mission and objectives
socialprotection.org is a leading global online platform dedicated to knowledge sharing, capacity strengthening, and collaboration in the field of social protection. Established in 2015, following a recommendation by the G20, the platform was created to address a critical gap in coordinated and inclusive knowledge exchange across the global community. It is hosted by the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD) and supported by Brazil’s Institute for Applied Economic Research (IPEA).
The platform’s mission is to serve as an unbranded knowledge-sharing and capacity-strengthening hub which offers actionable content and promotes dialogue, learning and cooperation among the global social protection community through innovative formats, with a focus on low- and middle-income countries. To fulfil it, socialprotection.org engages in a range of project-based activities, allowing it to provide specialised support tailored to specific needs. Among others, these activities encompass developing and delivering online courses via our Virtual Campus.
Assignment context
Interviewing (“hearing”) child victims and witnesses of violence requires specialised skills, child sensitive procedures, and adherence to international child rights standards. The Orientation Guide for Interviewing (“Hearing”) the Child Victim of Violence and the Child Witness emphasises that interviews must be conducted in a manner that “ensures the child’s safety, dignity, and emotional wellbeing throughout the process.”
In Tunisia, child protection professionals—including social workers, police officers, psychologists, and judicial actors—play a central role in receiving disclosures, documenting testimonies, and ensuring appropriate referral pathways. Strengthening their capacity is essential to improving the quality of child hearings, reducing secondary victimisation, and ensuring that children’s voices are heard in a safe and rights based manner.
UNICEF Tunisia supports national institutions in enhancing child protection procedures, including through the development of digital learning tools that promote harmonised practices and continuous professional development. Building on this mandate, UNICEF and socialprotection.org will collaborate to digitalise and deploy an online course based on the Orientation Guide, ensuring wide accessibility, interactive learning, and long term sustainability.
