How can you make a difference?

The Senior Fundraising Associate (Legacy) supports the management, promotion, and administration of UNICEF Mexico’s Legacy Giving Program, contributing to the long-term sustainability of fundraising income through bequests, wills, and other planned giving opportunities.

The role serves as a key liaison between prospective legacy donors, existing supporters, and internal stakeholders involved in donor stewardship, legal review, finance, and database management. The position supports the implementation of strategies to raise awareness of legacy giving, strengthen engagement with hand raisers, and ensure a high-quality experience throughout the legacy giving journey.

The post holder will work closely with the fundraising teams within the Individual Giving programme and, where relevant, with the High Value and Communications teams to develop this new channel. The role will include activities aimed at acquiring new hand raisers (marketing initiatives, telemarketing clusters and segmentation, digital channels, radio, TV, and other channels), creating alliances with notaries and other facilitators and establishing a stewardship programme for committers and completers.

Key functions/accountabilities include:  

  1. Define the strategy and work plan of the Legacy area, detect potential prospects inside or outside the UNICEF database.
  2. Establish campaign objectives, metrics, KPls and their corresponding monitoring and analysis.
  3. Promote personal interaction with key donors to advise them on technical and legal issues inherent to the process of inheritances and legacies.
  4. Assist in the maintenance of an accurate database, ensuring that records are kept fully up to date with all supporter communications, plans and information.

To qualify as a champion for every child you will have…

Minimum requirements:

  • Education: Completion of secondary education is required.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of seven (7) years of professional work experience in fundraising or telemarketing is required. A completed bachelor’s degree from a recognized academic institution in a field relevant to the position such as marketing, sales or communications etc. may replace three (3) years of related work experience. A completed master’s degree may replace an additional two (2) years.
    Relevant experience managing stakeholder relationships, including prospective donors, clients, partners, or external networks, is required.
  • Skills: Proven ability to develop and implement fundraising plans and strategies aligned with programme objectives.
    Demonstrated capacity to establish and monitor fundraising objectives, metrics and KPIs to assess performance and support decision-making.
    Strong ability to support donor engagement and stewardship activities to strengthen supporter relationships and commitments.
    Proven capacity to use research, benchmarking and market insights to inform fundraising campaigns and approaches.
  • Language Requirements: Proficiency in Spanish and intermediate level of English are required.

Desirables:

  • Language: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French or Russian) is desirable.
  • Familiarity with inheritance, succession and estate administration frameworks is considered an asset.
  • Direct experience in legacy fundraising is an asset.
  • Experience working in other UN agencies is desirable.
  • Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
