YPs join the World Bank Group on an initial two-year term contract, renewable subject to satisfactory performance. During this period, YPs complete three eight-month rotations: one with their primary function and area of expertise, one cross-institutional rotation, and at least one rotation based in a country office. These assignments enable YPs deepen their technical and operational knowledge while gaining experience across different areas of the institution. Through the YP Academy, YPs undertake a structured learning and development journey that includes technical and operational training, language programs, negotiation and business skills, and leadership development. They also receive individual coaching, connect with mentors, and participate in strategic dialogues with senior leaders. Information Technology Solutions (ITS) enables the World Bank Group to achieve its mission by delivering transformative technology to staff across 150+ locations. The Cloud Platform Engineering Team are responsible in designing, implementing, and governing secure, scalable application hosting solutions across multi-cloud environments, including Azure, AWS, and other SaaS/IaaS platforms. As WBG advances its Agentic AI and AI-enabled software delivery agenda, this role offers hands-on exposure to cloud and platform engineering, cloud governance, cloud architecture, cloud FinOps, Agentic AI, and agent development in a global development context. What You’ll Deliver The role will support the Cloud Platform Engineering team across key areas, including cloud governance, cloud engineering, cloudfinops and optimization, platform services, and developer experience. The role will contribute to activities aligned with SAFe principles and platform engineering standards, while gaining practical exposure to cloud application hosting, solution architecture, cloud resource provisioning, platform services, and role-based access control (RBAC). A specific focus will be placed on emerging areas such as Agentic AI, AI-assisted coding, automation, and AI-enabled software delivery. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience in cloud platform engineering practices, emerging technology evaluation, and the responsible adoption of AI-enabled tools and automation within the World Bank Group environment. • Support research, analysis, and documentation on emerging technologies, including Agentic AI, AI-assisted coding, cloud platforms, integration services, observability tools, and automation platforms. • Assist senior architects and platform leads in reviewing cloud platform patterns, reference architectures, reusable templates, and platform-as-a-product operating model documentation. • Contribute to prototyping and evaluating agentic AI and AI-assisted coding tools, including proof-of-concept agents, agent orchestration platforms, AI coding assistants, and related enablement use cases. • Support secure AI enablement activities by helping document guardrails, usage patterns, testing observations, and considerations related to security, compliance, auditability, and cost transparency. • Assist with Cloud FinOps activities by preparing analysis, meeting notes, knowledge-sharing material, follow-up actions, and documentation that supports cost awareness and sustainable cloud consumption. • Support DevEx and FinOps Community of Practice activities, including session preparation, coordination support, knowledge capture, stakeholder follow-up, and maintaining communication materials. • Help collect, organize, and summarize feedback from platform users, developers, architects, and stakeholders to improve cloud platforms, AI tools, automation patterns, and developer experience. • Support testing, validation, and documentation of cloud platforms, observability capabilities, integration tools, automation workflows, and AI-enabled platform services. • Prepare presentations, reports, briefing notes, and documentation for leadership updates, governance forums, architecture discussions, and stakeholder engagements. • Assist in documenting integration and observability patterns across cloud services, identity platforms, DevSecOps tooling, monitoring services, and automation frameworks. • Participate in workshops, design reviews, working sessions, and stakeholder discussions by capturing decisions, open issues, action items, and follow-up materials. • Work collaboratively with product managers, platform teams, architects, security teams, FinOps stakeholders, and external partners to support enterprise cloud, AI, and automation initiatives.
