Young Professionals (YPs) work across the World Bank, IFC, MIGA, and ICSID in support of our mission to create a world free of poverty on a livable planet. We seek candidates who demonstrate strong leadership potential, exceptional technical skills, and a clear commitment to our mission and values. As a YP, you will collaborate with colleagues across disciplines and institutions, applying your expertise to help address pressing development challenges and improve lives around the world. YPs join the World Bank Group on an initial two-year term contract, renewable subject to satisfactory performance. During this period, YPs complete three eight-month rotations: one with their primary function and area of expertise, one cross-institutional rotation, and at least one rotation based in a country office. These assignments enable YPs deepen their technical and operational knowledge while gaining experience across different areas of the institution. Through the YP Academy, YPs undertake a structured learning and development journey that includes technical and operational training, language programs, negotiation and business skills, and leadership development. They also receive individual coaching, connect with mentors, and participate in strategic dialogues with senior leaders. The Governance Department supports client countries in building capable, efficient, inclusive, transparent, and accountable institutions that deliver quality services, enable private-sector–led growth, and strengthen trust between governments and citizens. The Department also ensures that Bank-financed operations uphold the highest fiduciary standards in financial management and procurement. Bringing together professionals in public financial management, public procurement, anticorruption, justice and rule of law, corporate governance of SOEs, GovTech and public sector innovation, tax administration, and multilevel governance, it utilizes problem-driven diagnostic approaches, combining global knowledge of reform successes and failures with keen understanding of the institutional challenges and opportunities of developing countries. What You’ll Deliver • Contribute to analytical and data work by supporting data collection, research, and drafting of technical reports or policy notes on issues in one or more core work areas (public administration, civil service reform, public financial management, SOE corporate governance, anticorruption, digital government and public sector innovation, justice, and tax administration). • Support lending operations by preparing inputs for project documents, implementation support, and closing.Review of select country strategy documents (SCD/CPF/CEMs, etc.) • Contribute to the development of knowledge products such as toolkits, indices, guidance notes, global reports, how-to notes and case studies in in one or more core work areas (public administration, civil service reform, public financial management, SOE corporate governance, anticorruption, digital government and public sector innovation, justice, and tax administration). • Assist in client engagement by preparing presentations, organizing workshops, and supporting dialogue with government counterparts and development partners.Participate in missions. • Coordinate with teams and other units to integrate governance components into multi-sectoral programs.
